Job description



Oversees and coordinates the daily operations of one or more of Vacation Newport's luxury inns, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, product quality, food service, and guest experience. While guest hosting and customer service are important aspects of the role, this position has a significant hands-on housekeeping and cleaning component and requires active participation in maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the inns.

The ideal candidate will be positive, energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining immaculate guest rooms and common areas. This individual must be comfortable performing physical cleaning duties daily, assisting with housekeeping operations, and ensuring all properties meet Vacation Newport's high standards. The Innkeeper must be hands-on in all aspects of operations, with a strong focus on cleanliness, organization, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.

A flexible schedule is required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet guests upon arrival and provide a welcoming and professional check-in experience.

  • Ensure all guest rooms, common areas, kitchens, porches, hallways, and outdoor guest spaces are cleaned, organized, and guest-ready at all times.
  • Personally perform and assist with daily housekeeping and cleaning duties as needed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the property, with a strong focus on detail and presentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms and common areas and immediately address cleanliness concerns.
  • Perform deep-cleaning tasks, including but not limited to scrubbing bathrooms, washing walls, cleaning appliances, polishing fixtures, dusting high and low surfaces, and maintaining indoor and outdoor guest spaces.
  • Ensure laundry operations are completed efficiently, including washing, drying, folding, organizing, and stocking linens and towels.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest needs in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
  • Plan, shop for, prepare, and serve breakfast for guests daily.
  • Answer guest phone calls, messages, and reservation-related inquiries.
  • Communicate with management and maintenance staff regarding maintenance and repair needs.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for cleaning supplies, toiletries, linens, kitchen supplies, breakfast items, and other operational necessities.
  • Perform regular grocery shopping and supply runs for breakfast service and inn operations.
  • Maintain a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to transport groceries, supplies, and other items between properties as needed.
  • Ensure housekeeping supplies and storage areas remain organized, stocked, and properly maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Previous hospitality, housekeeping, hotel, bed & breakfast, or property management experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong commitment to cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to excellence and maintaining high operational standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with management, coworkers, vendors, and guests.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between 4 properties and complete grocery and supply runs as needed.
