Visit Seattle is now hiring a Seattle-based Executive Meetings Manager (EMM) to join our team of dedicated, service-oriented professionals. This position is responsible for promoting and selling Seattle and the region as a convention and meeting destination. The Focus market segment is smaller hotel groups with peak nights between 10-50 rooms. This position will cover all leads within the specified market segment. This position will work closely with our hotel partners and clients to bring group business to Seattle.

Candidates must be able to work at our office in Seattle.

Who You Are

The successful candidate is a hotel sales or catering professional with experience handling high in-bound lead volume while maintaining excellent communication between our hotel partners and clients. Visit Seattle is looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about the Seattle region and capable of communicating that passion with a wide client base. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have strengths in organization, process, and lead funnel management.

You'll also have:

  • Two years minimum hospitality sales experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a sales territory and large, fast paced account base.
  • Demonstrates high initiative and self-motivation, as well as creativity and flexibility.
  • Consistent positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Strong service approach with both internal and external customers.
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately while managing a schedule with minimal supervision.
  • Strong and consistent ability to prioritize activities within specific time guidelines and to handle multiple responsibilities within specific time frames and deadlines.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on client and office demands.
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,Simpleview and other relational sales management and space management databases.
  • Ability to operate computer, fax, Outlook, PDA and general office equipment including laptop computers, often from remote locations.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English, the primary language used in the office.


What You'll Do

  • Generates hotel bookings from an assigned market segment(s), which may be revised periodically. Current Territory assignment is 10-60 rooms on peak night.
  • Prospects, generates and manages a high-volume of sales leads.
  • Manages a strong lead funnel targeting short-term bookings for area hotels.
  • Provides related services and support for all clients in specified market segment(s).
  • Manages time efficiently by quickly assessing opportunities and connecting them with the best fit properties.
  • Creates and maintains client base in the assigned market; assigned an annual room night goal, to be achieved from tentative and definite bookings within this market. Analyzes total spend of group in order to effectively secure the best business for the city.
  • Actively prospects for new business in assigned market, using the value added/ROI approach so that Visit Seattle leads do not duplicate partner hotel and national/global sales efforts.
  • Actively market Seattle as a preferred destination for organizations/associations of communities of color and women.
  • Attends industry and client events, networking meetings and local meetings to solicit business, responsible for pre-planning, target marketing, pre- and post-event related work event arrangements, as applicable.
  • Coordinates and conducts city site inspections for meeting professionals, showcasing hotels, facilities, attractions and partners in the city.
  • Assists meeting professionals with referrals to service providers that benefit the community.
  • During convention/meeting, maintain contact with meeting contacts, including appropriate contacts with individual(s) responsible for rebooking.
  • Maintain research on competition regarding marketing and sales strategies.
  • Ability to establish quick and efficient relationships with clients and partners from beginning to end to effectively sell and close the business opportunities.
  • Represent Visit Seattle professionally at company and client sponsored events.
  • Performs other related duties, special projects and assignments as required.
  • Understand hotel partner needs and strategies, balancing those with Visit Seattle's citywide strategy, to steer business into mutually beneficial dates that will best maximize the opportunities for the city.


Who You'll Work With

You'll work with the Convention Sales Team and report directly to the Director of Sales. As part of the Convention Sales Team, you will also work with various other departments of the organization, but mostly Convention Services, Events, and Marketing.

  • Starting salary range is $74,840 - $95,000 with up to an 40% annual incentive. The full salary range for this position is $74,840 to $111,720.

  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, ten key, multi-line touch phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, scanner and other office equipment as needed.
