MSP Systems Engineer I

The primary focus of the MSP Systems Engineer I position is to provide technical knowledge and support regarding system and network operations issues for multiple clients.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Document, test, and modify network operating systems to enhance efficiency and reliability.

·         Diagnose and remedy network and user issues.

·         Implement client projects by drawing upon a variety of prior technical experience.

·         Maximize network performance through proactive network design and monitoring.

·         Develop and maintain accurate documentation for our clients.

·         Provide on-the-job training (via shadowing) to Support Specialists.

·         Responsible for influencing key recommendations for ways to improve a system’s reliability, scalability, availability, performance, and customer experience.

·         Design, development, implementation, and support of software to perform system utilities, automation, monitoring, and reporting.

·         Primary responsibility for implementation, maintenance, and support of: key distributed applications including operating system, security, performance, client software, supporting systems, security and applications; critical infrastructure and software including operating systems, system utilities, imaging, authentication, authorization, intrusion detection, communication protocols, databases, web servers, collaboration tools, proxies, and virtual systems.

·         Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (afterhours and weekends)
 

Qualifications:
 

·         4-year degree from an accredited university preferred but not required

·         Strong Windows Server/AD/LDAP experience (Certifications are a plus)

·         2-4 years’ experience in network and system administration (With Cisco experience of 100+ System and network nodes)

·         Experience supporting VMware environments (VCP certification a plus)

·         Experience with SAN technologies (NetApp, Hitachi, EMC, Brocade, etc)

·         Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps & NetScaler ADC preferred.

·         Experience with Office 365 suite of products

·         3-5 years’ experience in a Help Desk / End User / Desktop

·         3-5 years’ operating systems experience (Windows, Mac, Unix, and/or Linux)

·         Proven network analysis and diagnostic skills, ability to implement quick and effective solutions to network problems and escalate issues when necessary.

·         Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

·         Proven dedication to lights-on and data center operations

·         Prior consulting experience supporting 300+ employee clients a plus

·         Experience in project management, sales support, and solution delivery

·         Successful at working in a team culture.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Possess a valid driver’s license.

·         Will require travel to Orange County data center and client sites (MSP)

·         MSP Experience is strongly preferred.

·         Microsoft, Cisco, etc. certifications are big plus if not currently certified must be willing to acquire once hired based on client need/environment.

·         The majority of issues are server based with some basic networking and security experience, lots of server and network replacements and wireless access points.

·         As with any role in the managed service space, this candidate must be willing to jump into a variety of IT tasks at any level.

·         Experience with ConnectWise Manage and ConnectWise Automate a plus

Working Conditions:

·         Most of the work will be performed at client locations and at our corporate offices in (Pasadena, CA).

·         Must be able to lift 50-70lbs, carry, and reposition all parts of user workstations, network appliances, printers & servers. Consecutive hours spent sitting in front of a computer monitor and using keyboard and mouse.

·         This position will require providing desktop, printer and overall end-user support.

·         This is an on-site position
