Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network (FiNet) is seeking a Senior Relationship Manager to serve as a strategic partner to independent financial advisors and business owners across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

This is not a traditional relationship management role.

It sits at the intersection of advisor consulting, business strategy, and relationship leadership working directly with established independent advisors to help them grow, scale, and evolve their practices in an increasingly competitive landscape.

You will partner with sophisticated advisors who have chosen independence and are looking for a trusted voice to help them navigate:

  • Growth and client acquisition strategies

  • Practice scalability and operating efficiency

  • Teaming, succession, and long-term enterprise value creation

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to independent business owners, providing guidance on practice growth, client segmentation, staffing, and long-term strategy

  • Drive advisor engagement, retention, and growth across a defined territory within the Northeast Division

  • Consult on business-building opportunities, helping advisors deepen client relationships and expand their capabilities

  • Identify risks and opportunities within advisor practices and mobilize internal resources to improve outcomes

  • Act as the voice of the advisor, influencing internal partners and shaping how the firm delivers value to the independent channel

  • Lead in-market engagement, including one-on-one practice consulting and small group discussions

  • Partner across the firm (Recruiting, Marketing, Product, Risk, and Leadership) to deliver a cohesive advisor experience

  • Contribute to divisional growth initiatives, including advisor forums and strategic programs

Why FiNet

FiNet offers a unique combination of true independence and institutional strength, giving advisors the flexibility to run their businesses while accessing the resources of a leading financial institution.

As a Senior Relationship Manager, you'll help advisors leverage:

  • A broad platform including investment solutions, lending, and banking capabilities

  • The ability to compete effectively with RIAs, aggregators, and other IBDs

  • A growth-oriented environment focused on advisor outcomes-not just platform support

Who Thrives in This Role

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has worked directly with independent advisors in the IBD, RIA, or advisory platform space

  • Understands the economics and challenges of running an advisory business

  • Is viewed as a trusted peer and consultant, not a product salesperson

  • Has experience influencing business decisions at the practice level

  • Enjoys spending significant time in the field, building relationships and driving impact

  • Is motivated by helping advisors grow and evolve-not just maintain

  • You will also play a visible role within a high-growth Northeast Division, directly influencing advisor success and regional strategy.

Lead engagement activities for the assigned territory including individual and small group meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Business Growth Strategy experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with independent financial advisors in the IBD or RIA space

  • Strong business consulting and practice management expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence at the executive/owner level

  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage a broad territory and multiple priorities

  • Series 7 and 66 licenses, or ability to obtain within 180 days

Job Expectations:

  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

  • This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check. Internal transfers are subject to compliance with 17 CFR 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents

  • Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired. Information will be shared about expectations during the recruitment process

  • ~50% (in-market advisor engagement)

Territory:

The Northeast Division includes NJ, PA, DE, MD, VA, WV, OH, NY, CT, RI, NH, VT, and MA, with this role's primary advisor coverage in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio.
