Job Summary

The Public Relations Officer is responsible for managing the Consulate’s public image, handling communications with external stakeholders, and supporting diplomatic, cultural, and official engagements. The role ensures effective coordination with government entities, media outlets, and the local community while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Public Relations & Communications

Serve as the main point of contact for media inquiries and public communications

Draft official statements, press releases, and announcements in Arabic and English

Monitor media coverage and prepare reports for management

Maintain and enhance the Consulate’s public image

2. Government & Institutional Liaison

Coordinate with U.S. federal, state, and local authorities

Maintain relationships with diplomatic missions, international organizations, and community leaders

Assist in facilitating official approvals, permits, and documentation when required

3. Event Management

Plan and organize official events, receptions, and national celebrations

Coordinate logistics, invitations, and protocol arrangements

Ensure proper representation of the Consulate at external events

4. Community Engagement

Build and maintain strong relationships with the Kuwaiti community in New York and surrounding areas

Address inquiries and provide support to citizens when needed

Promote cultural and educational initiatives

5. Administrative Support

Prepare reports, correspondence, and briefing notes for senior officials

Maintain records of communications, events, and stakeholder interactions

Support other administrative or diplomatic tasks as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, or related field

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in public relations, communications, or government affairs

Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Knowledge of diplomatic protocol is a plus

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
