Department: Sales Location: Chicago, IL (Remote) Description ASC Engineered Solutions is looking for a Business Development Manager - Lead – who will be responsible for driving strategic business development initiatives within a defined geographic region. This individual will play a pivotal role in elevating ASC Engineered Solutions' presence in key markets—particularly within the data center and semiconductor sectors—by targeting, engaging, and influencing owners, engineers, and other critical project stakeholders.
Focusing on specification influence and market intelligence, the Business Development Manager - Lead will execute ASC's market box strategy to strengthen our position in both master and project specifications and support the seamless transition of opportunities to the commercial sales team. How You Will Help Lead project pursuit strategies by identifying, engaging, and developing relationships with key decision-makers, including owners, engineers, and general contractors. Collaborate with Regional Managers and Sales Leadership to evaluate territory opportunities and prioritize target accounts.
Develop and implement an annual business plan focused on increasing ASC's specification standing through the execution of the market box strategy. Secure detailed project insights and scopes of work to inform and support commercial teams. Influence specifications and guidelines at both the owner and engineer levels to expand ASC's footprint across critical projects.
Utilize CRM tools to capture and share market and account intelligence with cross-functional teams. Manage effective project handoffs with commercial sales personnel at appropriate points in the project lifecycle. Build deep expertise in ASC product offerings, technical applications, market positioning, material science, and specification language.
Analyze and track competitive products, market trends, and regional dynamics to inform strategic decision-making. Actively engage in trade associations and professional organizations to increase ASC's visibility and influence within the industry. Leverage strategic networking to cultivate new opportunities and enhance customer relationships.
What You Will Bring Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Demonstrated success in business development, sales, and account management with 10-12 years of experience—preferably in commercial construction, industrial engineering, or a related field. Strong familiarity and established relationships within the data center and semiconductor owner ecosystem.
Expertise in interpreting and developing specifications; experience with technical sales is highly desirable. Exceptional communication, project management, and organizational skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
Proven ability to adapt, problem-solve, and think strategically under pressure. Highly proficient in remote work settings, including CRM and digital collaboration tools. Willingness to travel overnight as required within the assigned region.
