Job Description About The Opportunity A well-established, growth-stage financial services firm is seeking a Vice President of Payroll to own and elevate their US payroll function. This is a high-impact role for someone who doesn't just want to keep the trains running they want to build a better railroad. The company has invested heavily in Workday (HCM, Finance, and Payroll) and has streamlined operations significantly over the past several years.

Now they're ready to move from execution to optimization, and they need a Workday-savvy payroll leader to get them there. What You'll Do Own end-to-end US payroll operations for a ~1,300-person, multi-state workforce Serve as the internal Workday subject matter expert driving continuous improvement and getting more out of the platform every quarter Partner with vendor for a small-group PPO benefit population Manage complex, high-volume compensation events including bonuses, restricted stock, clawbacks, W-2 amendments, and tax notices Ensure full compliance across all applicable federal and state payroll regulations Shift the function from reactive to proactive bringing real strategic value to C-suite conversations, not just clean payroll runs Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality across all compensation data What They're Looking For Strong, hands-on Workday expertise this is the #1 requirement Multi-state payroll experience with a high-touch service mindset Background in financial services, fintech, or consulting is preferred but not required genuine curiosity and willingness to learn CPP or FPC certification preferred demonstrates ongoing engagement with the profession Growth mindset over years of experience they want someone open to innovation, especially around AI, not someone anchored to "how it's always been done" Ability to handle a high degree of confidentiality with professionalism
