Job description

Creighton University, a premier Jesuit Catholic institution ranked among the nation's top universities, seeks a skilled and forward-thinking professional to serve as HRIS Manager. This position reports to the HR Director of HRIS and Payroll. The HRIS Manager serves as the university's steward of HR technology, partnering across campus to optimize systems and processes that support the full employee lifecycle. This is an on-campus position located in Omaha, NE.

The Opportunity:

Execute on the strategic direction, optimization, and day-to-day administration of Creighton's HR technology ecosystem-centered on Oracle HCM Cloud and Oracle Recruiting Cloud, and extending to integrations with platforms supporting background screening, employment verification, benefits, learning management, and faculty recruiting. You'll be responsible for driving system configuration, workflow development, testing cycles, and process documentation while partnering closely with HR functional experts and campus partners to deliver technology solutions that serve the entire university community.

As Oracle continues to evolve its platform--this role will be instrumental in evaluating, testing, and rolling out ongoing enhancements and capabilities to improve the campus HR experience.

This role extends well beyond the HR department-the HRIS Manager will support campus-wide HR processes, working closely with HR Generalists, campus partners, IT, Finance, Business Operations, and external vendors to implement new functionality, change management strategies, and training that drive successful adoption across the university.

The ideal candidate has advanced understanding and proficiency of HRIS platforms and HR technology ecosystems, including configuration of the HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, Compensation, Absence and Performance modules, as well as experience in coordinating the review, testing and change management of new functionality.  Experience in Bi Analysis  and multi-platform integrations is  needed along with experience using reporting/integration tools and module interactions across recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance management, compensation, and payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration and configuration of Oracle HCM Cloud and Oracle Recruiting Cloud, ensuring system performance, data integrity, and reliable HR operations across recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance management, and compensation.

  • Lead system configuration, workflow development, and enhancement-including building and maintaining employee and organizational workflows with embedded conditions for proper routing, approvals, and transaction processing across campus HR processes.

  • Stay current with Oracle HCM platform evolution-by reviewing vendor release notes, assessing impacts on workflows and system performance, and coordinating campus rollout of new functionality.

  • Responsible for continuous Improvement & optimization by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to simplify HR processes, improve data quality and enhance the user experience.  Recommend and implement system and process improvements aligned to HR and university strategy.

  • Develop and maintain structured test plans; coordinate end-to-end testing for patches, upgrades, and new functionality, and document results through resolution.

  • Partner with campus partners and functional SMEs to implement new processes and system capabilities, including developing change management strategies, training plans, and communication materials that support successful campus-wide adoption.

  • Coordinate with IT on technical integration projects-including authentication, SSO, and organizational data-and serve as the HR functional lead on cross-system initiatives involving vendors.

  • Translate business reporting needs into system-generated reports and analytics, leveraging HRIS reporting tools (OTBI, BI Publisher) to support data-driven decision making; conduct research on Oracle analytics offerings and emerging reporting capabilities.

  • Partner closely with SMEs and stakeholders to document current HR processes-including workflows, decision points, dependencies, and procedural steps.Serve as the escalation point for troubleshooting complex system issues, researching root causes, ensuring timely resolutions, and initiating Service Requests with Oracle as needed.

  • Evaluate emerging tools and technologies-including AI-driven testing, reporting, and self-service capabilities within Oracle HCM-to enhance system effectiveness, operational efficiency, and the overall HR technology roadmap.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in HRIS administration, HR technology management, or HR operations; experience in higher education or a similarly decentralized environment is preferred.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting HR systems; Oracle HCM Cloud experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with recent platform features such as Redwood-based pages, Journeys, and reporting tools (OTBI, BI Publisher).

  • Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining HRIS employee and organizational workflows, including conditional logic, routing rules, and cross-functional approval structures.

  • Proven experience in system testing and documentation, including the creation of test plans, test scripts, execution of structured testing cycles, and the ability to produce clear workflow diagrams, process maps, and written procedures.

  • Prior experience leading or supporting system upgrades, patches, and new functionality implementations, including vendor communication and issue resolution.

  • Strong understanding of HR data structures, data integrity principles, and security role configuration within HCM platforms, with the analytical skills to diagnose complex system issues and determine root causes.

  • Comfort working across a multi-system HR technology environment and collaborating with IT on integration, authentication, and cross-platform data needs, including integrations with adjacent systems such as background screening, employment verification, benefits, LMS, or applicant tracking platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change management efforts, including supporting system adoption, training, and operational transitions across a broad organization.

  • Experience with Oracle's Redwood design system, modern Journeys, and self-service configuration preferred.

What Success Looks Like:

Within the first 6-12 months, the HRIS Manager will:

  • Have developed a thorough understanding of Creighton's Oracle HCM environment, the broader HR technology ecosystem, campus HR processes, and key stakeholder relationships-and be recognized by HR and campus partners as a trusted, go-to resource for HR technology questions and solutions.

  • Have identified and begun implementing at least one meaningful process improvement or new system capability-such as a modernized Journey, enhanced reporting, or streamlined workflow-that visibly improves the campus HR experience.

  • Be actively evaluating emerging Oracle HCM features, including Redwood enhancements and AI-driven capabilities, and providing informed recommendations on what to adopt and when.

Review of completed applications will begin Monday, April 6th, 2026 and continue until the position is filled. This is an on-campus position based at Creighton's main campus in Omaha, Nebraska.
