Job description

Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe, LLC. is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
Core:
  • Collaborate across the company, including engineering, product, accounting, finance, sales, operations, to calculate the Stripe fees for the customers, often the largest, most complex, and strategic deals
  • Become a domain expert on Stripe's business economics, and consult others (e.g. sales and products) on matters regarding regulatory reporting
  • Introduce data and process efficiencies (such as setting up relevant metrics) to meet the scale and speed of Stripe
  • Monitor relevant metrics and drive process improvements for scaling regulatory reporting
  • Scale User Billing operation by driving the design, documentation, and training of operational processes and domain knowledge
  • Prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for inaccuracies and adjusting and weighing the raw data

Financial Modeling:
  • Pricing Complex Deals: Develop sophisticated financial models to price complex deals, projecting transaction volumes, analyzing cost structures, and incorporating various pricing strategies such as tiered pricing, volume discounts, and custom pricing agreements.
  • Forecasting Revenue and Profitability: Contribute to revenue forecasting by modeling the financial impact of various factors, including changes in pricing, product mix, and market conditions.
  • Scenario Planning: Utilize financial models to evaluate different business scenarios and their potential impact on Stripe's financials.

Data Analysis Tools & Techniques:
  • Data Reconciliation: A core responsibility is introducing and managing reconciliation processes between disparate datasets. This ensures accurate billing for enterprise customers and leverages the most current and accurate information available across the company
  • Triage Misbilling Requests: Responsible for triaging misbilling requests from Account Managers of enterprise customers. This involves gathering all relevant information and translating often ambiguous problem statements into clearly defined problems for the misbilling analyst team
  • Contract and Billing Audit: Auditing enterprise contracts to ensure accurate onboarding to negotiated rates and consistent, accurate billing. This involves meticulous review of contract terms and comparison with actual billing data. Frequent use of SQL to extract and analyze data. and leverages data visualization dashboards to reconcile billing data with negotiated contract terms
  • Manual Billing Automation and Audit: Due to specific contract language, several commercial constructs within enterprise contracts must be handled manually outside of the system. However, the process for calculating the fees for these manual billings has been automated. This automation leverages SQL queries, and an internal tool to ensure accurate and efficient calculation of non-standard fees. This automated process also facilitates regular audits of these manually billed items, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Who you are
Minimum requirements
Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, information systems, statistics, or a related field, plus 4 years of experience in technical project, product management, or data analysis or engineering.
