Summary:
The IT Operations Engineer is responsible for the stability, security, and performance of the Credit Union's technology infrastructure. This role supports server management, server virtualization, backup management, storage management, network management, security, and endpoint maintenance, while partnering closely with the Help Desk, Application/Operations teams, and Business stakeholders. The position plays a critical role in maintaining availability, regulatory compliance, and strong security posture in the bank's operating environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Infrastructure & Server Operations:
  • Maintain and support Microsoft Windows Server environment (2019, 2022, and 2025)
  • Administer and support Hyper-V virtualization platform
  • Administer and support VMWare vSphere virtualization platform
  • Perform server lifecycle management including patching, upgrades, and decommissioning
  • Support Windows 11 endpoint environments in coordination with Intune

Backup, Recovery & Storage:
  • Administer and monitor Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Ensure backup success, retention compliance, and regular recovery testing
  • Maintain and monitor storage platforms, including capacity planning and performance optimization
  • Support disaster recovery readiness and documentation

Security Operations:
  • Support internal security controls aligned with Credit Union regulatory standards
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and pen test remediation
  • Implement hardening, patching, and configuration best practices

Network & Monitoring:
  • Support network infrastructure including Cisco switches, and routers
  • Monitor network, server, and application health
  • Perform troubleshooting and escalation for network performance, connectivity, and availability issues
  • Support tuning across servers, storage, and network systems

Application & Platform Support:
  • Provide application infrastructure support for core and integrated systems including:

  • Collaborate with application teams and vendors to resolve platform and performance issues

Help Desk & Cross-Team Support:
  • Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 escalation support to the Help Desk

  • Document procedures, configurations, and operational standards
  • Participate in after-hours support and on-call rotation as required

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, or Software Development (Preferred)
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure support
  • Strong experience with:
  • Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025)
  • Windows 11 enterprise environments
  • Hyper-V virtualization
  • Veeam backup solutions
  • Microsoft 365 administration

  • Experience supporting enterprise monitoring and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with financial institution security and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications / Certifications
  • Microsoft 365 Administration Expert Certification (e.g., Microsoft 365 Administrator, Modern Desktop Administrator, or equivalent)
  • Comp TIA Network + (or equivalent network certification such as CCNA)
  • ITIL Certification
  • Experience working in a Credit Union or regulated financial environment
  • Security-related certifications (CEH, Security+, CISSP, or similar)
  • Experience supporting core banking or fintech platforms
  • OnBase workflow design, and construction
  • CMDB management processes
  • Knowledge of Agile
  • Ability to lift, rack and unrack servers / electronic storage devices
