Job description

Ignite Digital is seeking a highly experienced Strategic Advisor to support a U.S. Navy strategic planning and governance initiative within the National Capital Region. The ideal candidate brings deep commercial and defense-sector strategic expertise, along with a strong understanding of Navy governance, resourcing, and decision-making processes. This role requires onsite support and eligibility for a TS/SCI clearance.

The Strategic Advisor will guide senior leaders, shape portfolio decisions, strengthen enterprise planning, and ensure alignment between strategy, resources, and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert strategic planning guidance to U.S. Navy leadership and stakeholders.
  • Advise on enterprise portfolio management best practices and methodologies.
  • Support development, refinement, and execution of Navy strategies, investment decisions, and governance activities.
  • Translate complex strategic objectives into actionable plans, portfolios, and measurable outcomes.
  • Analyze resourcing, budgeting, and decision-making processes to inform senior-level recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on DON/DoD/IC mission requirements, organizational priorities, and transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive alignment between strategy and operational execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in business, finance, economics, or organizational change.
  • Expert-level knowledge of commercially accepted standards and best practices for strategic planning and portfolio management.
  • Seven (7)+ years of commercial strategic planning experience supporting Fortune 500 or comparable organizations.
  • Five (5)+ years of professional experience in the Department of the Navy (DON), Department of Defense (DoD), or Intelligence Community (IC) in a directly related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of DON resourcing and budgeting processes, including requirements flow, PPBE activities, and enterprise funding structures.
  • Detailed knowledge of DON governance structures and decision-making processes (e.g., roles, boards, authorities, and forums).
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Salary: $200k+ to align with education and experience.
