Job description

Sales Development Representative
About the role
As a Sales Development Representative on Vanguard's Financial Advisor Services (FAS) team, you'll play an important role in helping financial advisors deliver better outcomes for their clients-while supporting Vanguard's mission to give investors the best chance for investment success. This role is intentionally designed as an early-career opportunity, ideal for recent graduates or those beginning their careers in financial services who are eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term future at Vanguard. You'll gain broad exposure to our products, markets, and advisor relationships, with a clear path to developing into a wholesaler.
What you'll do
  • Respond to inbound calls from financial advisors with questions about market trends, Vanguard products, and competitor offerings.
  • Learn how to profile advisor practices, identify client needs, and discuss appropriate Vanguard investment solutions.
  • Route qualified opportunities to the Financial Advisor Services sales team and support the progression of those relationships.
  • Partner with internal and external sales executives and FAS leaders by coordinating and executing sales-support activities, including:
  • Direct mail and email outreach
  • Internal and external marketing campaigns
  • Creation of customized prospect and client target lists used in the sales process
  • Tracking and reporting on campaign activity and results
  • Research and respond to requests from sales executives related to client needs, product questions, competitive insights, and sales or marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with teams across Vanguard to gather, assemble, and deliver information accurately and on time to internal partners and external advisors.
  • Participate in outbound call campaigns to engage prospective financial advisors identified through transaction data, registration lists, or other lead sources.
  • Contribute to special projects and take on additional responsibilities as you continue to build skills and experience.

What it takes
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam required prior to hire.
  • Series 7 and Series 63 licenses currently held, or the ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly by phone, email, and web meetings.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision while following established processes.
  • Comfort collaborating with partners at different levels across the organization.
  • Sound judgment and a thoughtful approach to decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and contact management databases.
