Job description

Overview:
Business Title: Sample Management Coordinator II
Position Title: Lab Support Technician II
Division: Consumer Products Services
Entity: ATL
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Reports to: Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Sample Management Coordinator III is responsible for customer order support, such as solubilizing and plating compounds that may be highly potent and controlled substances, sample staging, and updating inventory. The role is also responsible for container direct sample submission support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
It is everyone's responsibility to live out our Values and Absolutes by Shaping a World of Trust while ensuring responsible progress.
• Directed sample submission (DSS) support for shipping and delivery services for plated samples including inspection of inventory samples, neat sample solubilization, sample tube creation and plating activities.
• Sample order support including:
o Order system customer service
o Order processing prioritization based on order comments.
o Sample shipping and receiving
• Support the transfer of sample submission containers and plate deliveries between buildings.
• Inspection of sample testing plates to ensure automation systems are operating according to quality standards.
• Communication of apparent issues to client personnel.
• Pick/Place sample archive support for solubilized sample archive, sample staging & storage locations (including loading and unloading samples from automated storage systems, refrigerators, and freezers in our laboratories).
• Monitor plate staging and pick-up locations: Monitor unretrieved sample plates, and support communication to biology for plate retrieval or disposal.
• Sample storage maintenance and issue resolution support (i.e., locating misplaced samples, reorganization/loading of sample archives and sample staging locations, and ample tube auditing).
• Organizes and manages workload to meet or exceed laboratory turnaround time and client expectations.
• Performs all tasks and procedures with limited supervision
• Clean, organize and maintain work area, glassware (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, and supply cabinets, as needed).
• Participate in the laboratory inventory program that provides adequate inventories of reagents and supplies.
• Assure the accuracy of tasks by adhering to the laboratory's SOPs.
• Communicate effectively with team members
• Complies with all safety guidelines.
• Assist in administrative aspects of various departmental projects as directed.
• Conduct verbal and written communications with internal with limited direction.
• Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Other duties as defined by manager, department needs and workload.
Skills & Proficiencies:
• Must be comfortable handling chemical samples
• Communicate professionally and concisely - both written and verbal
• Have solid experience maintaining a high attention to detail
• Strong experience with MS Office Suite and SharePoint sites
• Ability to quickly understand job-specific software
• Team-oriented and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Be a proven multi-tasker that truly thrives on juggling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
• Possess strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate it effectively. Must be able to work with specified turnaround times in a production environment.
• Experience in handling large quantities of samples and orders
• Driven, energetic person coordinating activities among different areas of the department
• Demonstrate team leadership
• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and complex schedules to support optimum laboratory operations
• Technical problem solving and process improvement skills
Education and Experience:
• Degree requirement: Associate's Degree in Chemistry or closely related field
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience of laboratory research in a highly detail-oriented environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
Compensation Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset).
