What is a sales operations specialist?

Sales Operations Specialists are professionals who support and optimize the sales process within an organization. They work closely with sales teams to streamline workflows, manage sales data, generate reports, and implement tools or strategies that improve sales efficiency. Their responsibilities often include CRM management, sales forecasting, process improvement, and ensuring that sales teams have the resources needed to meet their goals. By handling these operational tasks, they enable sales representatives to focus more on selling and building customer relationships.

A Sales Operations Specialist acts as a key liaison between the sales team and departments such as marketing, finance, and customer support. By managing CRM data, creating reports, and facilitating meetings, they help bridge gaps and ensure everyone is working towards shared goals. This collaborative approach not only improves efficiency but also enhances the overall customer experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales operations specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Operations Specialist, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of sales processes, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams make someone stand out in this role. These skills ensure efficient sales operations, data-driven decision-making, and smooth coordination between sales and other departments.

Echodyne is seeking a Sales Operations Specialist to join our fast-growing team.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales Operations Specialist to own the front end of the customer order process. In this role, you will review customer purchase orders and Terms & Conditions, coordinate approvals with Legal, Finance, Sales, and other stakeholders, and ensure orders are commercially compliant before entering our ERP system. This position plays a key role in helping the business scale efficiently, reducing processing delays, and ensuring a smooth handoff from Sales to Order Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifying non-standard or risky contract language.
  • Coordinating approvals with Legal, Finance, Sales, Pricing, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring approval matrices and delegation of authority are followed.
  • Verifying pricing, discounts, payment terms, Incoterms, shipping terms, and commercial requirements.
  • Making sure all required documentation is complete before the order enters ERP.
  • Acting as the gatekeeper between Sales and Order Management to prevent downstream issues.
  • Tracking approval status and ensuring timely turnaround.
  • Maintaining documentation and audit trails.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • Sales Operations or Commercial Operations experience.
  • Experience reviewing commercial documents, purchase orders, and customer T&Cs.
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce is a plus, but not the primary responsibility).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Sales, and Customer Service.
  • Basic contract/commercial knowledge (legal background is a plus, not required).

Echodyne's technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant's eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations. Therefore, we will ask you as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.
WHAT WE OFFER
This is an exempt role.
The expected annual salary range for this role is
$91,500-$129,883 USD
If your skills generally align but not perfectly, please apply anyway. There may be another role that's a great fit for you!
We offer competitive compensation and benefits to our full-time, US-based employees, including:
  • RSU (Restricted Stock Units)
  • Generous Benefits:
    • Fully-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums for you
      • Choice of PPO or HDHP/HSA

  • Mental Health coverage through Springhealth & Talkspace (Premera)
  • Travel Assistance Insurance
  • Company Paid Life Insurance
  • Company Paid Short & Long Term Disability
  • Flexible PTO (exempt) / 15 days per year (non-exempt)
  • 401(k) match
  • Pet Insurance
  • Prepaid Legal Program
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Paid Company Holidays
