Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Proposal Specialist III to assist in writing water business line proposals. This role will work closely with the West marketing team, business operations, and support staff to bring strong leadership, sharp compliance, skilled writing, and creativity to some of our must-win West pursuits. The job includes leading large proposals and presentations, and supports from pre-RFP project positioning through to interview stage, as required.

This position will offer a hybrid/flexible work schedule to include a combination of both office and remote work arrangements. This position will be based in either our Los Angeles, CA or Orange, CA offices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrates substantial expertise as a marketing and proposal management generalist or specialist.
  • Leading a variety of proposals and presentations from pre-RFP positioning through to interview stage, as required. Participate in go/no-go and green light analyses in compliance with delegation of authority guidelines, capture planning and positioning activities as they pertain to preparation for the proposals.
  • Interfaces with technical and BD staff to develop submittals and materials to win new contracts for the company, and to manage the information infrastructure that enables the business to do so efficiently.
  • Provides leadership and direction to pursuit teams for proposals, including schedule, templates, compliance, content planning, messaging and production. May serve as lead writer/editor for resumes and past performance sections for proposals.
  • Provides document design, while ensuring RFP instructions and internal brand guidelines pertaining to format, fonts, etc. are being followed.
  • Participates in go/no-go and greenlight analyses, capture planning and positioning activities as they pertain to preparation for the proposal.
  • Facilitates pink and red team, quality reviews, and applies lessons learned to add value to proposals. Manages the implementation of proposal and presentation revisions based on direction from review teams. Writes and edits tailored resumes and past performance sections for proposals. Provides grammatical and technical editing to ensure quality.
  • Supports special projects, as required.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of managing design proposals, in particular winning work for facility design-bid-build and design-build pursuits or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • A developed understanding of effective proposal and presentation strategy development and compliance, and writing and production.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of and interest in the A/E industry, including AECOM’s projects, people, credentials, and competitors is highly preferred
  • A detailed knowledge of marketing best practices and procedures, work processes, and tools.
  • A strong working knowledge of InDesign as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • A working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.
  • An understanding of CRM Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Initiative, skill, and personal commitment to manage multiple projects and details concurrently, follow up, and bring tasks and projects to full completion.
  • Ability to produce accurate, compliant, and compelling work independently and with others.
  • Experience demonstrating leadership qualities.
