Contracts Specialist

Position Summary:

This position requires the following time and staffing commitment:

The Contracts Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Contracts Department with various functions, including contract preparation, RFP and contract review, identifying and tracking contract compliance terms and related administrative support.

Position Details:

  • Reports to: Contracts Manager
  • Position Location: Houston, TX
  • Position Type: Full-Time
  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Essential Job Functions:

The candidate will perform the following essential functions:

  • Review and evaluate of terms and conditions of RFP/RFQ's.
  • Drafting, reviewing, evaluation and negotiating of vendor contracts and contracts with federal, state and local customers to ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), other applicable laws and corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements such as NDAs, Teaming Agreements, Consulting Agreements, License Agreements, Lease Agreements and other contract documents as required.
  • Liaise with various internal departments to coordinate review and approval of RFP/RFQ and various types of contracts.
  • Identify and track contract compliance requirements.
  • Maintains docket and trackers for Contracts and Compliance Department.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining internal policies.
  • Liaise with parent company legal department on contract, compliance, and legal issues.
  • Facilitate delivery of contract and client needs related to packaging and shipping.
  • Supports the department with clerical and administrative tasks.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Experience with standard concepts, practices and procedures relating to federal, state and local government and private sector contracting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in a changing work environment
  • Ability to work independently and/or on a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional research skills
  • Proficient computer skills: (including MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat Professional)

Education Requirements:

  • Associates degree or paralegal certificate
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of contract/compliance administration experience
  • Or a combination of education and work experience in a related field
