What is a Redcap Manager?

A Redcap Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the use, administration, and customization of REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) systems within an organization. This role involves managing user access, ensuring data security, providing training and technical support, and supporting research teams in building and maintaining electronic data capture projects. Redcap Managers often work in academic, healthcare, or research institutions and play a key role in facilitating secure and efficient data collection for clinical studies and research projects.

How does a Redcap Manager typically collaborate with research teams and IT staff to support data collection projects?

A Redcap Manager works closely with both research teams and IT staff to ensure that data collection projects are set up accurately and securely in the REDCap system. They often consult with researchers to design project databases that meet study requirements and regulatory standards, while also liaising with IT to address technical issues, implement updates, and maintain data security. Regular communication and training sessions are common, as the Redcap Manager helps users navigate REDCap's features and troubleshoot data-related challenges. This collaborative approach ensures smooth project execution and data integrity across multiple studies.

To thrive as a Redcap Manager, you need expertise in database management, clinical research workflows, and a solid understanding of REDCap software, often supported by a degree in health informatics or a related field. Familiarity with data security best practices, regulatory compliance, and proficiency in REDCap administration and related tools is essential.
