About the Program Manager position

Job Description: In close collaboration with program teams, the program manager is responsible for all aspects of complex projects and programs from contracted proposal to hardware delivery. The program manager defines and directs resources, and provides leadership for programs and program teams, in addition to ensuring that program requirements, objectives, and deliverables are satisfied per contract and customer expectations.

JOB DUTIES

  • Manage and execute on engineering programs from conceptual design through hardware delivery for development and spaceflight missions.
  • Serve as primary interface with customers.
  • Lead program teams and facilitate the communication and interaction among the functional representatives.
  • Manage engineering teams who are designing and manufacturing company products to ensure that the right product is developed to meet or exceed company's quality standard and customer expectations, and is delivered at the right time.
  • Ensure that program requirements, purposes, objectives, and expectations are communicated and flowed-down to the internal team and subcontractors.
  • Track program against its schedule, budget and against phase review objectives, reporting status to team on a regular basis.
  • Communicate status to program team and leadership regularly.
  • Resolve conflicts, demands, and priorities on assigned programs.
  • Work unplanned program issues to a best solution, including escalation and increased resources, as required.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated eventualities.
  • Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Work in Quality Assurance systems within the Aerospace Industry.
  • Recognize, develop, and work to win potential follow-on work, increased scope, and additional programs within the appropriate program contacts.
  • Develop scope of work for follow-on work, including technical requirements, schedule, and cost content.

Requirements + Skills:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a Program Manager in the Aerospace industry. This is a firm requirement.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Mechanical or Aerospace disciplines preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred. Master’s in Business Administration, Systems Engineering is a bonus.
  • Knowledge and experience in aerospace deployable and mechanical systems is a plus.
  • Highly experienced with MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint including ability to prepare various customer presentations, documents, and reports.
  • Ability to do detailed Requirements Analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, rapid prototyping, electronics manufacturing, soldering, wire routing and cabling, and electronic testing and diagnostics is a plus.
  • Experience managing and interfacing with suppliers and vendors, sourcing equipment, materials, and supplies is desired.
  • Prior experience preparing flight documentation including end item data packages, AI&T plans and procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Capability to work within a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, professional attitude is an absolute must.
  • A general understanding of different types of materials and surface coatings.
  • Quality Control and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
