We are hiring for a Production Scheduler in our Kingsport, TN LOCATION. The Production Scheduler is responsible for all detailed production scheduling activities for the assigned area. This role develops and coordinates production schedules to maximize output and enhance customer satisfaction levels with “on time” shipments while meeting established Company goals.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Responsible for publishing a daily schedule and working closely with production on any risks to the schedule.
  • Responsible for providing detailed communications between production, the warehouse and the materials team of parts needed urgently for the production line.
  • Responsible for all scheduling activities for service orders for the plant and proper planning of sub-components and communications to our service customers
  • Responsible and owning various scheduling metrics, understanding root causes of issues, and developing action plans to improve performance
  • Responsible for ensuring our schedule is optimized to support production flow and customer on time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Establishes effective communication with various groups such as customer service, sales team, and plant production departments to ensure the on-time completion of products through monitoring order status from start to finish.
  • Expedites materials for production as needed to meet deadlines. Assists in maintaining the amount of raw materials inventory necessary to meet planned production schedules. Tracks the flow of materials through the assigned areas.
  • Adjusts planned production schedules as necessary when order dates cannot be met, which normally includes preparing alternate schedules.
  • Reviews status and recommends use or disposition of aged, slow moving, or obsolete materials.
  • Actively work with customer service representatives to understand critical customer orders and share production rate execution and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related degree; or equivalent and 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a materials planning, production scheduling, SIOP or master scheduling specific to a manufacturing environment; Knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and kaizen continuous improvements preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization and external business contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities to facilitate the production of a large volume of high-quality material with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance the needs of the organization and the needs of the customer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with hazardous chemicals and materials, etc.
  • While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as samples and record boxes. This position requires frequent pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 20lbs.
