A Day in the Life

This position is for an individual with a production planning background, preferably in a construction or customized production environment. As the Scheduler you will plan, prepare, issue and control production schedules and work closely with the production staff and Inventory Center manager to ensure timely delivery of modular buildings to our customer. You will also advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. In this position you will be a key member of the Inventory Center team.

What You'll Do

  • Schedule modular building equipment and construction in order to meet customer demand including commercial and education projects.
  • Ensure that work orders created by sales department for production are complete and accurate to reflect all labor and bill of materials required for production prior to scheduling.
  • Coordinate inter-departmental activities to meet scheduled delivery dates.
  • Troubleshoot and modify production schedules in response to production issues, materials shortages, change orders and/or "hot orders".
  • Select and allocate equipment using established criteria.
  • Work closely with the operations team on delivery of buildings and set-up to meet customer requirements
  • Work closely with purchasing to ensure materials are ordered for upcoming projects.
  • Perform some administrative and support functions for the production department
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other departments to support a cohesive team environment to serve the customer
  • Able to perform material and labor take-offs and understand reverse scheduling
  • Able to maintain system perimeters in area of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Must Haves

  • 3 + years' production related experience
  • Prior experience in construction or related industry performing similar duties
  • Ability to communicate with internal customer's regarding work status and requirements
  • Computer literate with good basic computer skills in MS Office and ability to learn other programs
  • Able to read Company's construction documents and provides guidance to construction team to complete necessary work
  • Ability to prioritize actions and make decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including negotiation with internal customers
  • Prior experience in asset management
  • Excellent abilities to prioritize and adjust schedules

Nice to Haves

  • Ability to complete material and labor take offs from blue prints preferred
  • Knowledge of current industry applicable building codes preferred
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing preferred
  • Bilingual preferred

  • Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
    • Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
