Materials Planner

Plan raw material, rework and pallet replenishment and coordinate the flow of materials from suppliers and outside warehouses to production facility. Support inventory control and physical inventory activities. 

 Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Lead by example - promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Align with kp's strategic compass and core behaviors:  Focus, Accountability, Respect, and Urgency.
  • Establish and maintain the inventory plans for raw materials, rework and packaging materials. 
  • Review MRP exception reports on a daily basis to identify potential material shortages.
  • Initiate Purchase Requisitions for approved materials and schedule revisions to vendors as material requirements change.
  • Provide inventory related reports as needed.
  • Delivery location planning for inbound raw materials and rework.
  • Logistics planning to ensure timely delivery between outside warehouses and production plant.
  • Monitor and ensure all warehouse deliveries are planned with the transportation provider.
  • Prepare and perform physical inventory and cycle counts as required in responsible areas; reconcile as needed.
  • Identify aged or obsolete raw materials and establish plans for disposition of materials.
  • Lead materials management activities in Foil & Lamination operations to ensure proper transactional accuracy, material flow, and inventory visibility.
  • Monitor shelf life / expiration dates of relevant raw materials.
  • Process manual material production and consumption postings in ERP system as needed.
  • Track silo utilization.
  • Support railcar / silo filling instructions and rail switch communications.
  • Complete required PASA audits for improving Behavior Based Safety, and drive team behaviors for continued safety awareness and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Education and/or Experience:             

3-5 years of logistics/supply chain experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.  Prefer ERP (SAP) materials management experience. 

 Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Highly self-motivated individual focused and driven to provide excellent customer service.
  • Computer proficiency on ERP systems with materials planning and inventory management processes.
  • Computer proficiency with Excel for report generation and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ERP skills for problem solving and resolution techniques for MM transactions.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • High degree of initiative, ability to achieve results individually and in a multifunctional team environment, commitment to task, drives for process analysis and continuous improvement, and detail orientation.
