Job Summary:
- Richmond is seeking a highly organized and proactive Maintenance Planner to develop and manage a comprehensive maintenance planning program.
- This role will be instrumental in building a preventive maintenance (PM) program from the ground up, organizing and optimizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and managing the procurement, inventory, and stocking of maintenance spare parts.
- The ideal candidate will have strong planning and organizational skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to work closely with maintenance, operations, and procurement teams.
Maintenance experience is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance Program Development
- Assist with developing and implementing a preventive maintenance (PM) program from inception.
- Identify critical assets and establish maintenance strategies to improve reliability and equipment performance.
- Create, maintain, and update PM procedures, job plans, and maintenance schedules.
- Support the development of predictive and reliability-centered maintenance practices where appropriate.
CMMS Administration & Organization
- Lead the organization, cleanup, and optimization of the CMMS database.
- Create and maintain asset hierarchies, equipment records, PM schedules, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness within the CMMS.
- Train maintenance personnel on proper CMMS usage and best practices.
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities to maximize labor efficiency and equipment uptime.
- Prepare work packages including labor requirements, materials, tools, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Maintain an effective maintenance backlog and prioritize work based on operational needs.
Spare Parts Management & Procurement
- Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and storeroom organization.
- Establish and maintain minimum/maximum inventory levels for critical spare parts.
- Research, source, and procure maintenance materials, equipment, and spare parts.
- Develop relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing and timely delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels, usage trends, and obsolescence risks.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and cycle counts.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reliability, and inventory management.
- Participate in root cause failure analyses and corrective action initiatives.
- Support reliability and operational excellence programs.
- Drive standardization and documentation of maintenance best practices.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, inventory management, or related roles.
- Experience working with CMMS platforms (such as MP2, eMaint, Fiix, Maintenance Connection, Maximo, SAP PM, or similar).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Hands-on maintenance, reliability, or technical maintenance experience.
- Experience developing PM programs from the ground up.
- Experience managing maintenance storerooms and spare parts inventories.
- Knowledge of procurement and vendor management practices.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), or Predictive Maintenance methodologies.
- APICS, CMRP, or other maintenance/reliability certifications are a plus.
