Job Duties

  • Responsible for managing the overall effectiveness of the plant's execution of the materials management plan.
  • Provide overall Production Inventory Control (PIC)/Materials Leadership in successful coordination of: PIC forecasting, staffing/equipment capacity, new product introduction, Material Requirements Planning (MRP)/ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system issues, operations planning, engineering change, inventory management and general supply chain leadership.
  • Manage the activities of production planning & scheduling to ensure timely supply of materials, components, assemblies, processes, and services required to support efficient manufacturing operations and the shipment of customer orders.
  • Interact on a regular basis with senior management while facilitating corporate initiatives to ensure best in class Production and Inventory Control processes and results.
  • Participate and execute the Manufacturing Plan that includes the formulation and execution of a Plant Materials Plan.
  • Develop, direct and implement policies and procedures for the selection of efficient replenishment strategies to ensure availability of necessary inventory while minimizing investment and obsolescence risk.
  • Lead consistent and continuous improvement throughout the plant for releasing material in support of the Materials Plan.
  • Provide input for plant evaluation of production capacity given changing customer demand, staffing & equipment requirements and recommendations through collaborative teamwork with plant management team.
  • Oversee the plant process for the production and inventory control aspects of new product development and implementation. Oversee the process to ensure coordination between project and plant teams as required to execute Product Development Process (PDP) deliverables.
  • Monitor, assist and ensure overall timely execution of Engineering Changes affecting the plant to include the oversight of: Engineering Orders for developmental manufacturing projects; the organization and facilitation of EO meetings to effectively communicate upcoming changes, and the oversight of generally assigned tasks in meeting completion dates.
  • Ensure EO reporting to provide the production and inventory control aspects of project support.
  • Assist in the resolution of new product issues between plants.
  • Provide input for plant evaluation of production capacity given changing customer demand, staffing & equipment requirements and recommendations through collaborative teamwork with plant management team.
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports. Appraise employee performance and recommend wage adjustment or change of status.
  • Assist with hiring, placing, transferring, and promoting employees.
  • Approve weekly payroll hours and process and approve paid time off requests.

Minimum Qualifications

2-4 years' related experience

Bachelor degree

Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED

Must have valid driving privileges

Occasional travel (0-5%)

Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)

Preferred Qualifications

Four-year college degree and at least three to five years of experience in material control management. A masters or advanced degree in Business or APICS certification is preferred. Strong organizational, computer, communication, and interpersonal skills.
