Job Summary:

The Core Lab Supervisor provides daily operational leadership for a high-volume, accredited clinical laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient testing. This role oversees technologists, technicians, and support staff within the core laboratory, including Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and related disciplines. The supervisor serves as a technical resource, collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders, and drives continuous quality improvement across all laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Supervise day-to-day operations of the Core Lab on the day shift, ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable testing.
• Provide technical expertise in core lab disciplines, supporting staff with troubleshooting, instrumentation, and complex test issues.
• Oversee staff scheduling, task assignments, productivity, and workflow to meet departmental service goals.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and all applicable regulatory and safety standards.
• Monitor and maintain quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing programs with timely documentation and corrective actions.
• Lead, coach, and support a team of laboratory professionals through training, performance evaluations, and ongoing development.
• Collaborate with leadership on operational planning, budget input, inventory management, and process improvements.
• Coordinate instrument maintenance, validation, and correlation studies in partnership with technical specialists and vendors.
• Support implementation of new assays, technologies, and workflow optimizations to enhance efficiency and service excellence.
• Foster a culture of patient safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field required.
• ASCP (or equivalent) certification required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience; previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of core lab operations, instrumentation, quality systems, and regulatory standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
