Position OverviewThe Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of laboratory quality systems, technical operations, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures the laboratory maintains full CLIA and COLA compliance while supporting operational excellence.
This position works closely with the Laboratory Director to maintain high-quality laboratory processes and implement improvements that support continued laboratory growth.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can guide staff, troubleshoot technical challenges, and maintain a culture of accountability and scientific excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality & Compliance
  • Oversee and maintain the laboratory Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) program

  • Ensure full compliance with CLIA, COLA, and applicable regulatory requirements

  • Develop and maintain QA/QC objectives, policies, and monitoring systems
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Maintain CAP proficiency testing programs and address any deficiencies
  • Perform internal audits and prepare the laboratory for regulatory inspections
  • Assist with regulatory responses and corrective action plans
Technical Oversight
  • Ensure proper qualification, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, testing methods, and laboratory processes

  • Maintain operational oversight of instrumentation and testing methods

  • Review laboratory data to ensure accuracy, precision, and compliance

Leadership & Staff Development
  • Supervise and coordinate technical staff activities
  • Train laboratory personnel on procedures, quality systems, and best practices
  • Document and maintain training records and competency assessments

  • Lead by example through hands-on training and mentorship

  • Promote a culture of scientific understanding and accountability

Operational Support
  • Assist with development and validation of new laboratory tests and instrumentation

  • Support laboratory expansion and process improvements
  • Collaborate with the General Laboratory Supervisor and Laboratory Director on strategic initiatives
  • Assist with technical duties when necessary
QualificationsEducation
Education requirements must meet CLIA/CMS laboratory supervisor standards.
Typical qualifying degrees include:

Licensure

Experience
