Job description

Description:

Our results-focused Technology Operations (TechOps) team delivers secure and reliable technology services across all company properties. These properties include a mix of commercial and residential locations, each with distinct technology needs, support requirements, and service expectations. The TechOps team supports wired and wireless networks, network security and monitoring, servers and virtualization, cloud services and applications, endpoint and telephone services, backup and disaster recovery, specialized theater and editorial systems, executive technology needs, and technology projects.

The TechOps Engineer is an infrastructure generalist with a primary focus on network operations and planning. The engineer designs, implements, monitors, troubleshoots, and documents the organization’s multi-site wired, wireless, VoIP, VPN, and WAN infrastructure. Responsibilities include switching and routing, firewalls, wireless platforms, DNS and DHCP, network monitoring, structured cabling, performance and capacity analysis, infrastructure lifecycle planning, and network security.

The engineer also serves as an advanced escalation resource for the help desk, providing technical expertise across Microsoft 365, Active Directory, backup and recovery systems, hardware and software deployments, and other user-facing technology solutions.

As part of the team’s shared responsibility for service continuity, the TechOps Engineer participates in a rotating on-call schedule for critical technology needs outside standard business hours. During assigned on-call periods, the engineer must be available to respond remotely and, when the situation requires onsite support, arrive at the appropriate property within one hour.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must demonstrate the required applied technical knowledge through a combination of proven relevant work experience, industry certifications and/or a higher education degree (Associates or better) in Information Technology or a related discipline.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Advanced hands-on experience designing, implementing, administering, monitoring, documenting, and troubleshooting secure multi-site LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, firewall, and related network infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing and subnetting, Ethernet switching, VLANs and trunking, spanning tree, routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, access-control lists, VPN technologies, and network monitoring and logging.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity, routing, wireless, firewall-policy, NAT, VPN, DNS and DHCP, and high-availability or failover issues.
  • Experience monitoring network availability and performance and contributing to capacity planning, infrastructure lifecycle planning, hardware refreshes, resiliency improvements, and network security initiatives.
  • Experience supporting point-to-point wireless links and structured copper and fiber infrastructure; coordinating cabling contractors; and maintaining network diagrams, configuration records, standards, and change and recovery documentation.
  • Working knowledge of VoIP infrastructure, including voice VLANs, quality of service, phone provisioning, and voice-connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Advanced hands-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server and workstation environments, including Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, permissions and authentication, DNS and DHCP, and Hyper-V or a comparable virtualization platform; working knowledge of Linux server administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and at least one major cloud infrastructure platform, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, and supporting enterprise SaaS and collaboration services such as Box, Google Workspace, Zoom, or Slack.
  • Experience administering backup and recovery technologies, performing restores, troubleshooting backup failures, and participating in disaster-recovery testing.
  • Experience supporting EDR and endpoint-management or UEM/MDM technologies across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, including investigating alerts and coordinating containment and remediation.
  • Experience using PowerShell or another scripting language to automate administration, provisioning, reporting, monitoring, or remediation activities.
  • Experience using IT service-management and remote-monitoring tools to manage incidents, requests, assets, changes, and remote support, and maintaining clear technical documentation such as runbooks, standard operating procedures, inventories, and knowledge articles.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to communicate technical information clearly, professionally, and respectfully to technical and nontechnical audiences, including senior executives; demonstrated discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to independently assess business impact and urgency, prioritize competing work, escalate issues appropriately, and apply structured troubleshooting methods during high-impact incidents and time-sensitive projects.
  • Experience planning and coordinating infrastructure projects and working effectively with colleagues, property staff, vendors, contractors, and carriers through requirements gathering, scheduling, risk and change management, testing, documentation, and operational handoff. Must be able to evaluate technology decisions in the context of user experience, business operations, security, reliability, and broader infrastructure dependencies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, FileMaker Server, or comparable database and application platforms.
