HR Data & Operations Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA (Fully Onsite)
Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule (Every Other Friday Off)
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented HR Data & Operations Specialist to join our HR Shared Services team in San Diego, CA. This role is ideal for an HR professional with a strong foundation in employee lifecycle processes who thrives in a high-volume, transaction-driven environment. Approximately 85% of this position is focused on HR data entry, auditing, validation, and employee record maintenance. Candidates must understand HR processes and how employee data impacts payroll, compliance, reporting, and organizational structures. This is not a recruiting, employee relations, benefits, or HR business partner role. The primary focus is processing, validating, and maintaining employee data with exceptional accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume employee lifecycle transactions, including hires, rehires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, organizational updates, and terminations.
- Accurately enter, update, and maintain employee records within SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC), SAP, ServiceNow, and other HR systems.
- Manage approximately 30–40 HR service cases daily, reviewing documentation, determining required actions, and ensuring timely resolution.
- Perform pre- and post-entry validation of employee records, compensation data, reporting structures, and effective dates.
- Conduct quality audits and reconcile discrepancies across multiple systems to ensure data integrity.
- Validate employment documentation, including I-9 records, and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit activities.
- Partner with HR Services, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, managers, and HR Centers of Excellence to ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, operational audits, and team training activities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in HR Operations, HR Shared Services, HRIS support, Payroll Support, or a similar transactional HR environment.
- Experience processing high-volume HR transactions and data entry.
- Strong understanding of employee lifecycle processes, including transfers, promotions, pay changes, organizational updates, and terminations.
- Experience working with HR systems such as SAP, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, or similar HRIS platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to perform repetitive, process-driven work while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC).
- Experience working in an HR Shared Services environment.
- Payroll transaction processing experience.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP.

Work Environment
This position is fully onsite in San Diego, CA and follows a 9/80 work schedule, working nine-hour shifts Monday through Thursday, with every other Friday off and alternate Fridays worked as eight-hour shifts. This role is best suited for candidates who enjoy detailed, process-driven work and can maintain a high level of accuracy while processing large volumes of HR transactions.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Poway, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65/hr.
