Job description

About Monstro
Monstro is a governed AI platform for regulated financial institutions. We give banks and wealth managers a way to deliver trusted advice digitally - to every client, not just the top tier.
Institutions already have the relationships, data, and context to understand each client. Monstro turns that understanding into advice. It gives every client the experience of a personal advisor: bringing together their full financial picture, identifying what matters, and delivering personalized guidance across investments, tax, retirement, insurance, legal, and more.
For clients, that means clearer decisions, proactive support when life changes, and a better view of their financial lives. For institutions, it means deeper relationships, more clients served consistently, and more of each client's financial life managed in one place.
What makes this possible is how the system is built. Every recommendation reflects the institution's own views, policies, and permissions. Every output is auditable, traceable, and reversible, and client data stays under the institution's control. Generative AI shapes how advice is designed; at runtime, execution is deterministic - so every output can be explained and stood behind, not just trusted.
The work
We are building for a high-stakes industry where the work has real consequences. The challenge is to make advice more personal and more available without making it less trusted - to build AI that institutions can audit, explain, and reverse, in a domain where being wrong carries real cost. That is a hard problem, and it is the reason to be here.
You will work on technology that brings real financial advice to people who have rarely had access to it. You will be expected to think clearly, move with urgency, hold a high bar, and take responsibility for work that matters. We are an early team building something ambitious, and what you do here will shape both the product and the company.
About the Role
This is a hands-on Senior People (HR) Operations Manager role at the heart of a fast-moving BankingTech AI company that's genuinely changing how financial guidance reaches people. You'll be the engine behind our US People function - the person who makes sure the foundations are solid, the processes run smoothly, and employees have a great experience at every stage of their journey with us.
We're building our People function the way the best AI Labs do - lean, intentional, and high-impact. That means thoughtful org design, a culture built on trust and performance, and operations that actually work. You'll be central to making that real in the US.
You'll work closely with our Global Head of Talent & People Growth and report data/metrics directly to our Executive team. This isn't a strategy-from-a-distance role - you'll be hands-on in the detail, owning the work, and helping build an environment where people do the best work of their careers.
No two days look the same. You might be sorting a multi-state payroll query in the morning, onboarding a new engineer in the afternoon, and drafting a policy update before the day is done. If you take real pride in doing People Ops properly - and you believe that getting the fundamentals right is what unlocks a high-performing culture - you'll fit right in here.
What You'll Own
HR Operations & Compliance
  • Run and improve the US HR infrastructure via Rippling, serving as the lead for all HR Rippling matters - including implementation and the full cycle of the Rippling People platform
  • Own and maintain employment documentation, policy frameworks, and compliance processes across all states where we operate
  • Keep the full employee lifecycle running smoothly and compliantly - from offer letters and onboarding through to off-boarding
  • Manage and support your People Operations team member

People Support
  • Be the first point of contact for employee queries - benefits, policies, payroll, and everything in between
  • Handle employee relations matters with good judgment, appropriate care, and in accordance with US and state employment legislation
  • Make sure employees feel supported and that the basics are always done well - because a high-performing culture starts with trust

Employee Engagement & Performance
  • Help run Performance Collaboration Conversations, goal-setting processes, and feedback programs in close partnership with the Talent & People Growth team - all with a focus on driving a culture of high performance and continuous growth
  • Own the new joiner experience through 30/60/90 data and insight, turning what you learn into meaningful initiatives that improve engagement and set people up to perform from day one
  • Lead efficiencies and speed using AI tooling to keep people data and systems accurate and up to date, using it to spot trends and inform decisions

Culture, People Engagement & Experience
  • Support the delivery of culture and engagement initiatives that reinforce our values and raise the bar on what it feels like to work here
  • Help coordinate the development of employees, manager toolkits, and internal communications that equip people to grow and perform at their best

Compensation & Governance
  • Support compensation administration, market benchmarking data pulls, and off-cycle review processes
  • Maintain pay and HR governance records accurately and in line with company standard operating procedures
What We're Looking For
  • 5-8 years of HR experience, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth, or tech environment
  • AI Labs, Foundation Model Companies, Fintech, BankingTech, or regulated industry experience is a strong plus
  • A genuine belief that great People Ops is a driver of high performance - not just a support function
  • Strong operational depth - payroll, compliance, benefits, and systems - this is the core of the role
  • Experience working across multiple US states, with confidence navigating the complex compliance landscape that comes with it
  • Highly organized with sharp attention to detail - you don't let things fall through the cracks
  • A people-first approach - warm, responsive, and genuinely invested in helping people do their best work
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and happy wearing multiple hats in a fast-scaling business
  • Hands-on experience with modern People platforms - Rippling and AI-powered People tools
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; SHRM-CP or PHR is a strong plus
Why Monstro?
  • Ownership & Impact: Shape the future of AI-powered finance-building a category-defining product used by consumers and institutions around the world.
  • Experienced Team: Join a team with leadership that has a track record of scaling companies from early stage to major exits.
  • Principles-Driven Culture: Work in a culture that values speed, ownership, and impact-what most companies achieve in 90 days, we do in 45.
  • Comprehensive Compensation Package: Competitive salary, equity, and robust benefits package, including paid health, vision, dental, and disability coverage.

Base Compensation Range (New York City): $141,000 -$171,000
*Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal leveling, and market conditions, and will be offered within the stated range in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.
