Job description

We are seeking a highly analytical and driven Corporate Strategy Senior Associate to support enterprise-wide growth initiatives and strategic projects across Federal Signal. This role partners closely with senior leadership to identify, evaluate, and execute key business opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, market expansion, and operational improvements. This role is an on-site role based at our headquarters in Downers Grove, IL. 

The ideal candidate will leverage data, research, and financial modeling to develop business cases, generate insights, and create executive-level presentations that inform strategic decision-making. While not directly responsible for P&L management, this position plays a critical role in influencing revenue growth, investment strategies, and long-term planning.

This individual will manage multiple high-impact projects, contribute to the annual strategic planning process, and collaborate across business units to assess performance and identify optimization opportunities. Success in this role requires strong analytical and financial acumen, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Strategy team to define/analyze new business development opportunities across the full spectrum of Federal Signal’s businesses & markets
  2. Support the tactical implementation of strategic initiatives with ad-hoc analysis
  3. Leverage data & research to test hypotheses generated to support ongoing assessment of growth objectives/business opportunities at BU and corporate level
  4. Create compelling, persuasive presentation materials to communicate key learnings and recommendations to senior level executives
  5. Construct models, forecasts and business cases in support of new initiatives and growth opportunities
  6. Collaborate directly with senior leaders during the strategic planning cycle, supporting the creation and refinement of 3-year plans across business units
  7. Prioritize and manage multiple projects at any one time and with minimal direction from their manager
  8. Analytically support select strategic projects across initiatives such as: M&A, integration, sales process optimization, investor relations and other
  9. Track/evaluate existing initiative performance & identify optimization opportunities

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (preferably in analytical field) 
  • 2-6 years professional experience in investment banking, strategy, consulting, corporate development, or a related analytical field
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Strategic agility (comfortable dealing with ambiguity)
  • Self-starter; intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent communication, customer engagement/interpersonal skills
  • High financial acumen/financial modeling skills
  • Data analysis skills (ability to synthesize and distil key trends/take-outs out of large and/or disparate data)
  • Relentless work ethic
  • Proven ability to take ownership of projects and initiatives and lead to completion/fruition with minimal oversight/supervision

Target salary range: $105,000-$110,000 + Bonus Opportunity
