Overview

We are seeking a Senior Corporate Strategy Advisor to join the Corporate Strategy Department.

The Corporate Strategy Department directly contributes to the Company's strategy development and update process through the application of best-practices in the fields of upstream, downstream, new energies and corporate strategy.

Your primary role will be coordinating the development of the Company’s Corporate Strategy, providing rigorous analytical and advisory support to enable strategic decision-making by Corporate Management, and leading the communication of the Corporate Strategy across the organization and through key Company publications. 

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Acts as a trusted Corporate Advisor on Corporate Strategy and related matters, providing strategic insight and process guidance to the Corporate Strategy Department, the Strategy and Market Analysis organization, the CEO, and members of Corporate Management.
  • Plays a leading role in the development and periodic update of the Company’s Corporate Strategy, working closely with business strategists and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the Strategy and Market Analysis organization and the various business and service lines.
  • Develops, evaluates, and proposes strategic options to Corporate and Executive Management, supported by robust quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Prepares high-impact research, special studies, and strategic analyses for the Strategy & Market Analysis organization and various Corporate Committees, as required.
  • Coordinates across Corporate Strategy groups and other Strategy and Market Analysis departments to deliver integrated analyses that support Corporate Strategy formulation and updates.
  • Cultivates and sustains key matrix relationships across the organization, effectively influencing stakeholders at multiple levels and advancing corporate strategic thinking to ensure proactive strategy adjustment and development.
  • Interfaces with, influences, and collaborates closely with SMEs, strategists, and professionals across the Company responsible for translating the Strategic Plan into business strategies, including challenging assumptions and clarifying strategic objectives.
  • Leads and manages strategy consultants and external advisory teams, commissioning and overseeing strategy-related projects, studies, and diagnostics to support the development and update of the Corporate Strategy, as well as the delivery of high-impact strategic insights required by the Corporate Strategy Department, the Strategy and Market Analysis organization, the CEO, and members of Corporate Management.
Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate, you will hold a:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited university. Advanced degree is a plus. 
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in the energy industry, with substantial exposure to corporate strategy, strategic planning, and enterprise-level decision-making.
  • Prior experience with a major international management consulting firm is strongly preferred.
  • Majority of your career in oil & gas, preferably within strategy, planning, or corporate development, and supplemented by senior-level consulting experience in the energy practice of a leading international consulting firm, as appropriate.
  • Widely recognized energy industry expert and thought leader in energy company strategy, with deep insight into global energy markets and a strong command of evolving industry dynamics, structural drivers, and long-term transition pathways.
  • Extensive experience in strategy development, long-term strategic planning, and scenario design across oil & gas and the broader energy system. The candidate will bring a distinguished track record across technical, operational, commercial, and strategic roles, including significant tenure (typically 10+ years) in Corporate Strategy or Corporate Planning positions with direct and sustained engagement with top management (CEO, Executive Committee, and Business Leaders).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently originate strategic inquiries; frame complex, ambiguous issues at the enterprise level; and coherently articulate and present strategic perspectives, trade-offs, and implications for the Company’s long-term performance.
  • Proven experience regularly advising and presenting to Corporate Management and Board-level audiences, as well as representing the Company in external forums, such as: executive roundtables and conferences, with a well-established ability to command credibility and build trust with senior executives and peers.
  • Extensive experience operating within large, complex corporate environments, with a strong appreciation for governance, matrixed decision-making, and collaboration across
