Description
The AVP Data Analyst role contributes significantly to the Data Solutions efforts including definition, analysis, and implementation of data onboarding and aggregation requirements for Enterprise Risk Management reporting in adherence to the Citi Data Governance Policy (CDGP) and Standard (CDGS) framework.
Reporting into the Enterprise Risk Management Data Solutions team, this role is critical for supporting ongoing data initiatives by focusing on detailed system and data analysis, ensuring robust data quality, contributing to enterprise data layer design, solutioning and managing project artifacts efficiently, particularly within JIRA. This position requires a solid understanding of data management principles, data governance frameworks, and data operating models, coupled with strong analytical acumen and effective communication skills to identify, document, and support the remediation of data-related challenges.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth system and data analysis to support Enterprise Risk Management data initiatives, ensuring alignment with data governance policies and standards.
  • Gather and document comprehensive business requirements (BRDs) and functional requirements (FRDs) for data-centric projects, including detailed specifications for data quality rules, data lineage, and data layer components, partnering closely with technology teams to support implementation
  • Actively manage and update project artifacts, tasks, issues, and action items within JIRA or similar project management tools, ensuring accurate tracking of progress, dependencies, and timely resolution.
  • Contribute to the design, documentation, and maintenance of logical and physical data layers, including data models, data dictionaries, and data lineage, to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient data solutions.
  • Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot data quality gaps and issues, collaborating with business data owners and technology teams to propose and implement effective remediation strategies and monitoring routines.
  • Review and validate business requirements, data lineage, and supporting documentation for downstream risk reporting and analytics solutions, ensuring consistency, traceability, and governance alignment.
  • Use Citi AI tools to develop data analytical solutions
  • Support the creation and maintenance of detailed data flow diagrams, process maps, and system documentation.
  • Prepare and contribute to presentations and status updates for internal stakeholders and project teams.
  • Participate in data governance forums and support the implementation of reporting and tooling for the ERM Data Operating Model.
  • Assist with the tracking and remediation of RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) log items and overall project progress against established plans.
  • Collaborate with business data owners to understand existing data processes and contribute to defining new, innovative requirements for end-to-end data solutions.

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business analysis, or systems analysis, with a strong emphasis on data quality initiatives, data governance, and system implementation
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with project management tools, specifically JIRA, for task management, issue tracking, and project progress reporting.
  • Solid foundational understanding of data layer design principles, data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), and database concepts.
  • Working experience with Agentic AI or LLM preferred
  • Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry is required, with exposure to enterprise risk management or specific risk management categories, including the role of data in risk reporting, monitoring and decision-making is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and management tools and applications, including Oracle, PL-SQL, data lineage tools, and data cataloging.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting concepts (e.g. dashboards, metrics, and reporting layers); experience reviewing documentation for BI tools such as Tableau is a plus but not required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to interpret complex data requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data flowcharting tools.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and take ownership of responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required in a quantitative field; Master's degree preferred.
