The Component Engineering Team at Apple is responsible for identifying, documenting, and releasing efficient components from a variety of commodities for some of our products. The team is a multi-functional extension of System Integration Electrical Engineering team focusing on ensuring that the right specific components are selected for every electrical component in the Product's Design. We have an opportunity for a Component Engineer to join our team to drive the component selection process and perform your work in a consultative manner as the Domain Expert.
Description
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on the intricate and complex issues impacting delivery for best-in-class Apple devices. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Project Team Support across Commodities as the Resident Component Expert
Support New Product Introduction by developing lead times, qualification, roadmap, alternate component suggestions, following up with vendors etc.
Locate and qualify new potential component suppliers.
Review and evaluate component PCNs and FA reports, evaluating issues and risk to the project.
Responsible for coordinating and tracking all component root cause failure analysis and implementing corrective action.
Documenting and releasing all component specifications. Commodity research, including identifying supply chain opportunities and tracking supplier roadmaps.
Minimum Qualifications
BSEE required.
2 + years of experience in Component Engineering or similar role.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Component Engineering or similar role.
Good understanding/Working knowledge of Engineering documentation (i.e. schematics, component data sheets, etc) and standard document control practices (Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders, deviations, etc.)
Experience with coordinating multi-functionally with groups such as Electrical Hardware Design, Mechanical Product Design, DFM, GSM (Global Supply Chain Managers) and JDMs (Joint Development Manufacturers) to resolve issues pertaining to component selection.
Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
