COMPONENT ENGINEER Contract 6-24 months 9/80 work week Hybrid TBD Seeking an experienced Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) Component Engineer to support the development of high reliability electronic systems for demanding aerospace and defense applications. This role blends deep technical expertise, supplier engagement, failure analysis, and cross functional engineering collaboration. You will lead and/or assist in the performance of Electrical Component (Parts) Engineering, development and execution of the program Electrical Electronic Electromechanical (EEE) Parts management plan. You will evaluate new technologies and work closely with survivability, designers, test and manufacturing engineers, agencies like DLA, Part Manufacturers and Test Labs. You' ll use your education, experience, and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the harshest of environments and most critical strategic systems. Key Responsibilities EEE Parts Engineering & Technical Leadership Lead and support EEE Parts Engineering activities across hardware design, manufacturing, and test. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for high reliability electronics used in military and aerospace systems. Apply Military Standards governing EEE part manufacturing, suitability, and acceptability. Familiarity with the following standards: AEC-Q100, AEC-Q200, AEC-Q101, MIL-STD-11991, MIL-PRF-19500, MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-1580, EEE-INST-002, PEM-INST-001, SMC-S-011, SMC-S-010, SMC-S-016, IPC, JEDEC, GEIA-STD-0005-2 Demonstrate expertise in common EEE part failure modes and apply Physics of Failure methodologies. Formulate, evaluate, and apply component failure mechanisms to verify conformance. Maintain and manage the As Designed Parts, Materials, and Control List. Component Selection, Qualification & Reliability Lead the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of EEE components. Review part selections to ensure reliability, suitability, and compliance with requirements. Identify failures, research screening and qualification test plans, and recommend corrective actions. Support Failure Review Boards to ensure analyses fully account for defects. Evaluate new technologies for harsh environments and mission critical systems. Design, Manufacturing & Process Evaluation Evaluate and inspect design and manufacturing processes for circuits, components, integrated systems, and hardware installations. Demonstrate familiarity with microcircuit and semiconductor technologies, including bonding, mounting, packaging, and interposer structures. Work with suppliers, test labs, and government agencies to ensure component quality and performance. Cross Functional Collaboration Coordinate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams. Collaborate with survivability engineers, test engineers, and reliability teams. Work with Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Boards for part approval requests. Respond to customer comments and requests related to parts approval submissions. Reporting, Documentation & Mentorship Prepare technical reports (e.g., Parts Management Plan), specifications (SoCD), supplier evaluations, and test analyses. Provide support and input with respect to parts information for Parts Library maintenance and Bill of Material generation. Support development and mentoring of junior engineers. Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure high reliability component usage. Component Types Supported Resistors, capacitors, diodes, ICs, hybrids, crystal oscillators, filters, fuses, heaters, magnetics, microcircuits, relays, semiconductors, thermistors, and other EEE hardware. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field. 7+ years of relevant professional experience. Coursework or experience in electrical parts and circuit design, semiconductor physics, and device operation. Experience reviewing engineering drawings and specifications. Knowledge of EEE component design, functionality, manufacturing processes, and materials. U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. Preferred Experience ASIC/Memory and Digital Devices experience Experience evaluating commercial electronics for high reliability applications. Hands on lab experience with component testing, teardown, and analysis. Ability to support design reviews and collaborate with design engineers. Experience communicating with suppliers to resolve component issues. Familiarity with high-performance connectors, discrete semiconductors, and passive hardware. ???????
