Job Summary

The Collections Manager oversees the collections department and is responsible for improving collection rates, reducing delinquencies, and managing a team of collections specialists. This role ensures compliance with collection laws and internal policies while maintaining effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the collections team to meet or exceed collection targets.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize collection strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor accounts receivable portfolio and aging reports to identify delinquent accounts.
  • Contact clients regarding overdue payments and negotiate payment plans when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the sales, finance, and legal departments to resolve disputes or escalations.
  • Prepare regular reports on collections status, trends, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding debt collection.
  • Train and mentor team members, fostering professional development and performance improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in credit and collections at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of collection techniques, credit risk assessment, and legal guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
