Job description

The Claims Assistant is an entry level position that partners with the Claims and Recovery Department providing front line administrative and general office support. Ideal candidates should possess strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask and work in a structured work environment. This role will be supported with ongoing coaching from leaders with a moderate case load.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Claims Support (80%)
  • Preparing data entries in accordance with established standards.
  • Assessing reasonableness of data as well as identifying discrepancies, including reconciliations.
  • Reconciling data for new claims to be set up in a claim platform
  • May include updating basic data discrepancies identified in reports.
  • Verify coverage via internal system and attach support document to claims
  • Data Entry
  • Send out correspondence regarding claims
  • Introduction to report preparation as needed daily, weekly, monthly reports associated with the internal controls of the claim and/or recovery department.
  • Projects related to support functions as needed
  • Other duties as they apply

Understanding of claims compliance and state mandated regulations (10%)
  • Follow mandates required by state statues and regulation regarding claims correspondence.
  • Ability to read and apply instructions, short correspondence, oral/written instructions and memos

Service Delivery to customers (10%)
  • Provide quality customer service to all clients, internal or external
  • Maintain a record of actions regarding claims in appropriate system(s)
  • Effectively communicate to all parties
  • Promptly and efficiently response to all email communications (4-8hrs)

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):
  • High School Diploma or GED required
