KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Sous Chef at Tatte, you will support all kitchen operations within your café and play an important role in the success and development of your kitchen team. Sous Chefs help lead teams of Zone Leaders, Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers in a fast paced, high volume environment rooted in quality, collaboration, and genuine hospitality.
We are looking for leaders who are passionate about scratch made food, thrive in dynamic kitchen environments, and have the ability to engage, inspire, and develop strong teams while maintaining operational excellence. Sous Chefs are responsible for overall kitchen execution in the absence of the Cafe Head Chef. We expect our Sous Chefs to:
  • Support kitchen production and service according to established operational standards
  • Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and organization
  • Coach and develop kitchen team members while fostering a positive team environment
  • Live Tatte's core values and help support our mission
  • Have flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bring a strong passion for culinary excellence and guest experience

Scope of Responsibilities
  • Oversee production and service according to established guidelines
  • Adhere to recipe, portioning, and presentation standards
  • Complete all daily management tasks in a timely manner
  • Develop a strong understanding of the menu through daily tasting
  • Coach kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, equipment operation, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas
  • Maintain inventory within established guidelines while ensuring product availability
  • Assist with implementation of seasonal menu changes

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability and desire to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work 10+ hour shifts and stand, squat, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of culinary or kitchen management experience in a high volume food service environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and a strong passion for culinary excellence
  • Strong understanding of quality execution, presentation, food safety, sanitation, and food cost controls
  • Knowledge of systems, operational standards, and processes that contribute to successful execution
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred
  • Degree or certificate in Culinary Arts preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Previous experience with UltiPro, Toast POS, CrunchTime, and Teamworx preferred
  • ServSafe, Allergen, and ChokeSaver certifications preferred
