What is a branch manager?

A Branch Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a branch office, typically within a bank or other financial institution. Their duties include managing staff, meeting sales targets, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulations. Branch Managers play a key role in driving business growth, developing their teams, and representing the company within the local community.

How do branch managers typically balance administrative duties with team leadership responsibilities?

Branch Managers often face the challenge of managing both operational tasks—such as reporting, compliance, and budget oversight—and leading their team to achieve sales and customer service goals. Successful managers allocate dedicated time for administrative work while maintaining an open-door policy to support and coach staff throughout the day. Regular team meetings, clear goal-setting, and delegation of certain tasks help Branch Managers stay organized and ensure the branch operates smoothly. This balance is essential for meeting targets and fostering a positive work environment.

What does a branch manager do?

Branch manager jobs can be found at a bank, car rental company, manufacturing company, or in retail. Their responsibilities are similar, but some duties depend on the specific field. As a branch manager at a bank, their responsibilities are to oversee the daily operations, manage employees, and meet with clients. Tasks may be similar at a car rental facility, but also include inspecting cars, ensuring that insurance paperwork is up to date, and balancing books.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a branch manager?

To thrive as a Branch Manager, you need strong leadership, financial management, and customer service skills, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software, banking or retail management systems, and sales analytics tools is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and team-building abilities help you motivate staff and foster positive client relationships. These skills are essential to meet performance targets, ensure operational efficiency, and drive branch growth.

Lead the whole branch, not just a piece of it
Most "branch manager" jobs are middle management with a fancier title. This one isn't. You'll lead the full operation of an established disaster restoration branch - mitigation and reconstruction, roughly 55/45 - with real authority over hiring, scheduling, estimating standards, and how we show up for customers on the worst day of their lives.
We're looking for a proven operator: someone who can run emergency response and a construction backlog at the same time, build a team that stays, and keep our reputation with carriers, agents, and customers exactly where it belongs.
What you'll actually do
  • Lead day-to-day operations across both divisions - mitigation and reconstruction - with full accountability for how the branch performs
  • Lead a team of 40-50: mitigation techs, PMs, estimators, and office staff - and build the managers underneath you
  • Keep our 24/7 emergency response sharp and our mitigation files closed in 30 days
  • Run a reconstruction backlog with real WIP discipline - no jobs dying at 90% complete
  • Own the relationships that feed the branch: adjusters, agents, plumbers, property managers, TPA programs
  • Set the standard on safety, documentation, and estimating integrity - we win by doing it right, not by padding scopes

You're probably a fit if
  • You've spent 5+ years in restoration or insurance repair and at least 3 running a branch, division, or team of your own
  • You know Xactimate, you know what a TPA scorecard is, and you've fought (politely) with a carrier over a supplement
  • You can read a WIP report and immediately know which three jobs are lying to you
  • You've hired, trained, and kept technicians in a labor market that's trying to steal them
  • You're comfortable being the person the phone finds at 2 a.m. when a CAT event hits

If you don't have the industry experience, tell us why you would excel at this position. We are always looking for great team members
What you get
  • Company vehicle or allowance, phone, laptop
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, PTO and paid holidays
  • A branch with real momentum and an ownership group that wants a partner, not a caretaker
