An admissions clerk works at the front desk of a medical facility or hospital. As an admissions clerk, you greet patients, manage their registration, and process their health care forms and documents. You collect patient information and inquire as to their medical history. Your duties include updating the office database with new patient information and managing patient files. Other responsibilities include performing a quick assessment of each patient and determining whether or not they need immediate medical attention. You are also responsible for verifying patients’ billing information, reviewing their insurance cards to ensure they’re valid, and collecting any necessary co-pays.
