Reports to: Head of People & Talent

Position Summary:

The HR Operations Manager will be responsible for the oversight, implementation, and strategy planning of the HRIS platform and other HR related systems. This role will support and maintain specialized and internal HR systems, services and applications used within the organization. As well as developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy. This is a hybrid role; three days from our Home Office, located in Chicago.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Manage the daily activity of the HR Service Center (Operations) team while they respond to HR related questions. Respond to escalated issues and appeals. Act as a liaison with HRBPs and teams. Provide reports upon request.
  • Review current work and determine ways to improve workflow, case management and future self-service technologies to optimize efficiency and enhance effectiveness. Determine well defined performance indicators and service level agreements.
  • Lead the People Operations function to support the delivery and improvement of all aspects of the team member lifecycle, including new-hire onboarding, offboarding, benefits enrollment, leaves of absences, and overall associate support from an operation standpoint.
  • Design, implement and streamline data management processes to drive towards data integrity across systems, including processes of job status changes, regular data audits to ensure accuracy and compliance of personnel record management.
  • Own the dashboard and reporting of all people operations data, including ensuring data integrity.
  • Optimize and own HR systems required for onboarding, performance management, team member personnel records (HRIS) and continue to drive organizational adoption of those systems.
  • Ensure that HR Processes are developed and performed in compliance with all legal and organizational requirements, standards, and procedures. Partner with internal General Counsel to review progress against compliance standards.
  • Develop procedures, guidelines, workflow, and SOP documentation.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to stand up a centralized employee relations function. This role will help create the process and discipline behind conducting investigations and standardizing progressive discipline and employee relations processes. Will work with HRBP team to identify SLAs, and performance metrics for these processes.
  • Handle the utilization and organization of the workforce, develop, and monitor performance metrics, professional development systems and more.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and act as a key resource of all HR systems.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to associates.
  • Facilitate or assist with the facilitation of training for team members and leaders as necessary.
  • Be able to travel to market locations and/or meeting events to support business needs.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or human resource management; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in HRIS management, including experience in HR management.
  • Proven experience as an HR leader managing a team of 2 or more direct reports.
  • Must like an environment that is entrepreneurial and willing to build from the ground up.
  • Knowledge of HR/labor laws, proven ability to handle confidential information and familiar with national and local legislation with experience in employee relations and HR compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to interact and build relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and present information to senior leadership, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to work as a self-directed individual taking initiative to identify and address business needs.
  • Ability to drive change management from an idea through implementation.
  • Strong Technology and Data Analytics Competencies. Must be able to tell a story with data. Prior experience identifying and launching an HRIS System preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
  • Excellent management and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to various locations to support business needs.
  • This position must pass a post-offer background.


Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.
  • Prior experience identifying and launching an HRIS System preferred.
  • Specialized HRIS certification is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

Physical activities on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; frequent use of telephone/video conferencing and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting, up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
