Job Description

Centennial is confidentially seeking a Director, Sales and Business Development to lead all sales and commercial efforts for our Cincinnati-based, privately-owned manufacturing client.This highly relational role will include prospecting, developing new leads and closing deals.Their responsibilities will also include managing customer support, contract reviews and regular reporting on the current state of sales.

The right candidate will have experience in building, coaching and developing a high-performing commercial organization with a growth mindset and focus. They will lead strategy development on all opportunities and customers through the team, including developing new and existing relationships.


Critical to this role is developing strategies to acquire new customers, in addition to going deeper and wider with existing customers; financial analysis capabilities to develop deal reviews, sales process development and refinement and establishing and managing KPIs to deliver the expected business outcomes.

This role is located in Northern Cincinnati and will report to the Vice President & General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and deliver results to monthly/quarterly/annual bookings goals
  • Establish and manage commercial KPIs to monitor and maintain the health of the sales pipeline, direct estimating, and the efforts of the commercial team to ensure backlog volume supports the business plan
  • Develop and improve commercial processes to support our business and customers
  • Manage a team of three individuals which includes attracting, developing, coaching and retaining high-performing team members to support departmental and business goals
  • Promote collaboration with Senior Management, Finance, Engineering and Operations leadership to establish relationships that drive results
  • Create and negotiate optimal deal structures and ensure contracts to best yield possible business outcomes
  • Maintain, evaluate, and advance CRM capabilities and sales enablement solutions to drive velocity, accuracy and win-rate in the sales pipeline


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in technical, hands-on sales leadership
  • Strong leadership experience and ability to work across functions to drive results
  • Exceptional communicator with executive presence and the ability to present concepts and strategic objectives to all levels of the organization in a clear, concise manner
  • Demonstrated excellence with customer relationships, follow-up and attention-to-detail
  • Create inclusive team environments that foster trust and a sense of empowerment
  • Analytical, strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong business/financial acumen including developing business cases
  • Passion for winning and delivering improved business results
  • Ability to develop and negotiate deal structures and contracts
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, growing business
  • Composure and resilience under pressure
  • Exhibits integrity and does not compromise core values
  • Proven track record of delivering complex multi-disciplinary programs/initiatives from concept through delivery
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and creativity, coupled with a continuous improvement mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sales experience in contract manufacturing or similar engineering services business, specifically in the Aerospace, Defense, or other high technical requirement markets.
