Director of Sales
Growing company, committed to excellence, with over 200 employees serving 14 unique markets throughout Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, and Arizona is adding to their team!
Compensation: Total on target earnings: $200,000 -265,000
Location: Hybrid – Ideal candidate will be within one hour of Sonoma County Airport. Travel as required in western states via company aircraft as needed.
SUMMARY
The Director of Sales is a key member of executive team and is responsible for the overall strategy and leadership of sales operations for Power, Propane and Autogas divisions, selling to residential, commercial and industrial customers. In collaboration with other executive team members, the DOS identifies key market opportunities and develops and executes growth plans to capitalize on those opportunities. The DOS is responsible for hiring, training, managing, and guiding sales staff in the successful achievement of growth targets. In addition, the DOS provides support to inside salespeople (RSAs) and division managers. This position also collaborates with the Director of Marketing to create successful marketing campaigns and events. Occasional marketing and trade show setup and onsite support will also be required. Must demonstrate a high degree of accountability, integrity, possess superior interpersonal and customer service skills, and be adept at building strong relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy
Stay abreast of market conditions, competition, and the regulatory environment, and understand how those elements will affect company
In collaboration with the executive team and other key stakeholders, identify opportunities for Core, Autogas, and Power.
Develop strategies and actionable tactical plans to capitalize on market opportunities.
2. Goal Setting and Execution
Participate with executive team members, sales staff, and divisional staff in determining strategy-based sales goals and targets for all divisions, including Power.
Develop methods to gauge performance and take appropriate corrective action to ensure goals are met.
3. Sales Management
Create and maintain a positive customer experience with company.
Recruit and retain sales staff and provide training for new staff and refresher training for existing staff as required.
Supervise sales staff and strive to maintain their focus on identifying, approaching, obtaining, and retaining new customers.
Ensure sales processes are followed and proper sales tools are utilized uniformly across the company with respect to systems, forms, and agreements.
Oversee the salesperson commission program by reviewing reports, researching, and resolving disputed or missing items on a monthly basis.
Work with VP and Director of Operations to address any operational constraints that may hinder growth.
Work directly with all division managers and RSAs to ensure they are abreast of the latest market conditions, company products and services, or company campaigns. Conduct refresher training as required.
Assist with administration of the RSA Sales Commission program.
Support account management.
Work with the Director of Marketing to develop and execute marketing activities, designed to build awareness, interest, and demand for our products and services.
Monitor public bid platforms for contract opportunities throughout service area. Work with stakeholders, which may include VP, CFO, In-house Counsel and salesperson to write bid response and ensure RFP guidelines are followed.
Work with the finance team to manage Special Pricing Agreements. Review new SPAs for accuracy and conduct quarterly contract price review. Meet quarterly with each Division Manager and salesperson to review each SPA that due for renewal.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
A bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or marketing.
Minimum of 5 years sales management experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent project management capability.
Adept at using Microsoft Office and other software systems.
Ability to understand related industry codes, standards, and laws and how they will impact the sales cycle as well as customer agreements and installations
