Job Description

Job Title: Director of Engineered HVAC Sales

Reports to: President

FLSA Status: Full Time - Exempt

We are 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Position Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to drive company revenue growth, foster loyal employee, customer, and business partner relationships, and put others in the best position possible to succeed.

Voted one of the Best Employers in NC in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 by Business North Carolina Magazine, Heat Transfer Sales is actively seeking a qualified Director of Engineered HVAC Sales who can:

  • Understand and leverage the sales process
  • Lead sales teams by providing guidance, training, and mentorship, setting sales quotas and goals, creating sales plans, analyzing data, assigning sales territories and building the team
  • Manage organizational sales by developing a business plan that covers sales, revenue, and expense controls
  • Track sales goals and report results as necessary
  • Oversee the activities and performance of the sales team
  • Coordinate with marketing on lead generations and promotions
  • Ensure ongoing training of the sales team
  • Set clear direction, expectations, and measurements, including execution of sales activity, reporting and business processes requirements
  • Develop and implement sales plan to support sales, KPI and profitability goals; achieve assigned revenue growth targets
  • Utilize current and develop/suggest new, innovative sales tools to effectively plan and increase business opportunity
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with our products and services
  • Develop and propose changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations
  • Continually monitor sales trends, market dynamics, product performance results and customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts; assess key competitors’ programs
  • Continually enhance sales skills and product knowledge
  • Value and respect relationships
  • Hire and motivate high-performing sales teams, and lead them to generate leads, hit or exceed revenue forecasts, and ultimately meet customer needs.
  • Facilitate weekly sales training and ad-hoc trainings on effective sales strategies including product knowledge, presentation, follow-up, closing strategies and process adherence
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years of sales management experience and strong references required.
  • 10 or more years of sales experience, preferably with hydronic HVAC systems & equipment
  • Proven track record of positive sales performance
  • Track record of superior performance metrics
  • Strong decision-making abilities
  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong ability to effectively lead and mentor a team of sales professionals
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Must possess a personal need to consistently produce accurate and thorough results
  • Superior written, oral and presentation skills
  • Proven problem solving, leadership and listening skills
  • Product and vendor knowledge (or the ability to quickly learn it)
  • High technical competency with engineering-related subjects
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Versatile, coachable, and adaptable

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment
  • Moderate lifting may be required to move equipment, files and supplies
  • Moderate travel
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required
  • Occasional work in outside weather conditions
