Job Description

We are currently searching for a Regional Manager in the Los Angeles metro market with experience working with a major manufacturer of consumable industrial products. This person will manage an outside sales team of approximately 8-10 representatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with this high performing team to provide leadership and training, and overall support. We are only considering individuals with a proven track record in sales management within an industrial field.

This is an entrepreneurial opportunity with a company that takes pride being a leader in their industry. The Regional Manager is a full-time sales manager in a specific geographic regional territory, this person will be responsible for achieving or exceeding annual regional sales, profit, and profitability goals while supporting company-wide strategies and direction.

The ideal candidate will live within the Greater Los Angeles Metro Area. This role is responsible for the Southwest United States (Southern California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona.) Travel up to 60-70% locally and regionally.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achieving and/or exceeding the annual revenue and profit goals for the Region. Should be able to make critical business decisions with little margin for error on a tight timeline.
  • Assisting in recruiting, retaining, training and developing the human resources of the region.
  • Supporting company strategies, mission, vision, policies, and core values and conveying this to their team.
  • Create a work environment in which all employees receive equal treatment and opportunities to learn, develop, succeed, prosper, and potential promotion within the region and the company as a whole.
  • Travel routinely as dictated by the current tasks and geography of a given region – regular travel 50% - 70%.
  • Implement and maintain all aspects of the sales management system, which include analysis, pricing, planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, and performance evaluation.
  • Maintain multiple contact points with the entire team: attend and lead phone calls with the team, live meetings as directed by the Home office, conference calls with senior management, and other meetings as directed.
  • Assume responsibility for personally contacting and developing meaningful business relationships with key accounts within the region while assisting the Area Managers in developing relationships with other key customers.
  • Focus and reinforce marketing, trade show, and incentive programs to grow revenue in the region.
  • Act as liaison between the Home office management and support personnel with regional team members on all material issues, concerns, or problems.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive to make in person sales calls and travel to areas of the region. This role cannot be performed without a working car. Maintain a valid Driver’s License at all times (Motor Vehicle Reports will be checked periodically).
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Sales management in the industrial field with proven success

Required Length and Type of Experience

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of sales and sales management experience, 10 years preferred. Experience to include managing a team of sales personnel within a large region.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically and mentally able to work 45+ hours per week, Monday through Friday traveling to and from daily in person customer visits.
  • Must have the capability to constantly transport appx. 30 lbs. of samples (or up to 50 lbs. for items such as trade show equipment or luggage if applicable) in and out of vehicle for use at customer locations or other meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to the home office or other meeting destinations as required by the company (occasional long distance travel by car or commercial aircraft may be necessary).
  • Regional Management Positions will require the ability to frequently travel longer distances to work with subordinates.
  • Dexterity: Ability to make small movements such as typing, picking up small object, or pinching items together.
  • Communicating: Especially where one must frequently give and receive detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average Visual Abilities: Average, Ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery including vehicles.

Mental Activities and Requirements

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instruction and to deal with problems involving a few variables.

Language Ability: Ability to write and communicate in complex sentences using good vocabulary.

SUPERVISION: 8-10 Area Managers
