YU is housed in a 25,000 square-foot state-of-the-art center annually serving about 4000 Alameda County youth, ages 13-24. YU’s campus includes a health clinic, an internet café and a multimedia center, and offers core programming in four areas: education, health and wellness, civic engagement, and art and expression. YU also operates a social enterprise hub that creates jobs and provides industry-specific training in high-growth sectors that facilitate a young person’s transition into the workforce and nurture education opportunity.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Accountant &Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Accounting and Finance for the organization, ensuring complete compliance with all GAAP and internal policies and practices. The Sr. Accounting & Finance Manager will report to and work closely with the CEO. In addition, they will partner with leadership to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The Sr. Accounting & Finance Manager will assist the CEO in overseeing all financial compliance and recognition for government (federal and state) contracts and grants. They must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily management of accounting and bookkeeping duties

Financial Statement Preparation in collaboration with outside consultant
Budgeting and Forecasting for future financial sustainability planning
Work with outside consultant in creating and distributing preliminary Financials
Serve on the Agency Leadership Team
Contract finance management
Work with outside consultant in reconciliation of bank accounts and other asset GL accounts and maintain GL files/

Other Accounting Duties
Update internal finance processes and procedures

Design an internal control tracking process to ensure security is maintained

Oversee and streamline as necessary interdepartmental transfers and journals
Review monthly A/P reconciliations
Preparation of spreadsheet reports (403b, Salaries, Workers Compensation, manual payroll checks, advance to employees)
Quarterly 403b review for cash-out eligible former employees
Handle and coordinate 403b audit, compliance issues, testing and annual report
Coordinate 5500 annual filing
Other duties as assigned

Experience & Education: Masters Degree in Accounting and minimum 6 yrs. experience as an general accountant.
