Sunstrong Management is a fast-growing, technology-driven asset management firm redefining renewable asset management. We manage a growing portfolio of residential, utility-scale and commercial renewable energy assets. Our mission is to maximize the financial performance, safety, and lifespan of renewable energy assets through data-driven software solutions, advanced analytics, and AI-powered customer operations.
 
Position Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Director of Product Management to lead our software product strategy and execution. You will be a key leader in our organization, interfacing regularly with the CEO and Executive Leadership team to articulate a vision, and create and execute a roadmap to support renewable asset management at scale across multiple asset classes (solar, wind, EV Chargers) and markets (residential, commercial/ industrial, utility), maximizing financial performance and creating delightful experiences for homeowners and end consumers of renewable energy.
 
You will lead the Product Management team responsible for all of our propriety and third-party software platforms for both front and back-office functions.  These will include Salesforce CRM, third party billing & invoicing systems, proprietary fleet telemetry and data systems, and our data lake/ warehousing platforms, among others.  Your team builds the vision to mesh these platforms into a cohesive asset management platform, and partners with the engineering group to drive from inception to launch.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive product strategy aligned with business objectives, market trends, and technical advancements in renewable energy.  Communicate this clearly and effectively to maintain alignment across company departments.
  • Asset Management SaaS Leadership: Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for our digital platforms that provide performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, and financial reporting for solar, wind, and storage assets.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with engineering, asset accounting, business insights, and both customer and field operations to prioritize features, define requirements, and deliver high-quality software that enhances operational efficiency.
  • Customer & Market Insights: Sunstrong Management has in our 18 month history, established a very strong product-market fit with several well known investment groups.  The Product Management function you will lead is responsible for keeping abreast of any developments / new requirements arising from these organizations, and for driving to clarify and execute existing known market needs.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Hire, mentor, and lead a team of product managers, fostering a high-performance culture and establishing best practices for product delivery.  You must be an excellent communicator, and be confident coaching this skill in both written, oral, and prepared presentation format to your team.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish key performance metrics (KPIs) to analyze product performance, track ROI, and inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 7+ years in product management, with a proven record of launching B2B SaaS, preferably within energy, IoT, or fintech sectors.
  • Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of renewable energy systems (Solar, Wind, BESS), technical asset management, and financial drivers.
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to translate technical data streams (IoT/SCADA) into user-friendly software.  Openness and demonstrated ability to build commercial software ecosystems using a combination of 3rd party and proprietary software.
  • Leadership: Experience mentoring product teams and influencing stakeholders cross-functionally.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Journalism, Anthropology or related fields; MBA or Industrial Engineering graduate degree is a plus.  Work/ life experience demonstrating significant intellectual curiosity, growth mindset, and personal grit required.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience and significant curiosity about AI in software development, decision support, and contact center applications in particular.
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment.
