Job description

Job Description:

Mars Petcare- Central Mixing Senior Operator- Columbus, Ohio

  • Pay: $30.33/hour and 1.50/hour shift premium
  • This site manufactures Petfood.

Shift Schedule:

Shift: 3rd (Nights)

Schedule: 2.2.3

Hours: 7pm- 730am

Description of Role:

The Central Mixing Senior Operator will simultaneously supply the petfood manufacturing lines with both raw and finished chunk product. This includes meat ordering, batching, and finished OFM (Oven Formed Meats).

What are we looking for?

Minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education
  • Ability to troubleshoot machinery
  • Proficient in computer software's including MS Office and email.

Physical Requirements:

  • Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Technical degree or certification
  • Forklift experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience

What will be my key responsibilities?

  • Batch and supply cooked and raw ingredients to all lines
  • Ensure that production lines run to schedule by providing the correct quantity and quality of raw and unfinished ingredients in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate raw ingredient flows to keep the ingredients form cross contaminating product batches.
  • Keep the area sanitation at the proper level according to the QA (Quality Assurance) daily sanitation check sheets.
  • Maintain the proper levels of inventory for the flavor barrels.
  • Help ensure that new associates in the area receive proper skills and safety training.
  • Accommodate background meat for all Lean runs in the Cannery.
  • Support Maintenance during shutdowns.
  • Troubleshoot the equipment (mechanically and computer controls)
  • Any ad hoc requests
