Job Purpose: Under general supervision, the Surgery Coordinator will provide outstanding service to patients and physicians in all verbal and direct communications.
JOB RESPONBILITIES:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage the surgery schedule for physicians within a 24 hour window upon physician's decision.
- Create surgery packets and advise patients of all steps for Pre-operative evaluation and post operative appointments.
- Work as an effective team member with other Surgery Coordinators in POD ensuring that the appropriate information is communicated to providers; CMA's and Nurses regarding surgery and/or procedures.
- Provide patient with all relevant information regarding surgical clearance prior to the start of medications.
- Provide instructions to ensure all Radiology and Scans are made available to the provider.
- Communicate providers request to change schedule to COO and POD Manager via email.
- Document all correspondence with patient regarding medical issues and/or clarification of services rendered in Nextgen.
- Maintain positive and respectful dialogue at all times and communicate issues appropriately through the chain of command to facilitate problem resolution.
- Answer calls within 3 telephone rings in order to provide satisfactory customer service.
- Utilize appropriate communication skills with customer at all times.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Education/Training
- High School Diploma or the Equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience Surgery Scheduling experience.
Skills & Abilities:
- Must have excellent customer service skills both internally and externally.
- Excellent organizational, time management and follow through skills.
- Must be able to interact with team members in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Must have the ability to greet patients and visitors, whether in person or on the telephone, in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner at all times.
- Must have excellent grammar and communication skills in order to relay appropriate and accurate information to the patients.
- Must be able to follow both oral and written forms of communication.
Computer literacy:
- Proficiency and working knowledge of Medical software applications, e.g. EMR, as well as Microsoft Office Applications.
Driving Requirements:
- A valid State of Georgia Driver's License and reliable transportation is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands: This position requires a substantial amount of standing, sitting and working at a computer station throughout the day.
Work Environment: Must be flexible and available to work at different locations throughout Georgia Urology
