Job Description

The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (VMCVM) seeks an Educational Technology Support Specialist with a strong background in medical or health professions education technology to partner in the design, modernization, and delivery of high quality learning experiences for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students. This position plays a key role in advancing the College's educational mission by strategically identifying, implementing, and sustaining instructional and assessment technologies that support competency based, outcomes driven veterinary education across pre clinical, clinical, and experiential learning environments.
Instructional and assessment technologies supported by this position include learning management systems, programmatic assessment platforms, curricular and accreditation management systems, learning analytics tools, and simulation and immersive learning technologies.
This role combines educational technology leadership, faculty development, and hands on technical expertise. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure thoughtful adoption of educational technologies and will contribute to shaping the College's approach to ethical, effective, and pedagogically sound use of artificial intelligence in veterinary education, ensuring alignment with professional expectations for clinical reasoning, lifelong learning, and patient care.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with significant experience in educational technology, instructional technology, computer information systems, or a related field, preferably within higher education, medical/veterinary education, or clinical/hospital information systems.
Excellent written, oral, and problem solving skills, with a collaborative and consultative approach.
Demonstrated leadership and systems level thinking in educational or information technology environments.
Proven ability to assess and respond to faculty and learner needs in a complex academic or clinical education setting.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technology strategy and complex technical concepts for non technical audiences.
Experience supporting or implementing learning management systems, assessment platforms, or curriculum/academic information systems.
Clear awareness of emerging trends in educational technology, learning analytics, and AI supported education.
Experience working across multiple computing platforms, operating systems, and software environments.
