Cobalt (Innovation)

Job Summary
Cobalt is building the technology and AI platform that will define how Calcium+Company shows up for clients over the next five years. The VP, Technology & Innovation brings it to life.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who can do three things at once: build differentiated AI and technology products against the vision set by the EVP, lead engineering and applied AI teams, and sell that work to senior clients in healthcare and life sciences. You will not be a back-office technologist - you will be a commercial leader with deep technical credibility.
Reporting to the EVP, Technology & Intelligence, you will partner across Cobalt's three capability pillars - Development & Infrastructure, Data & AI, and Analytics, Search & Performance Marketing - to translate them into productized solutions clients can buy, deploy, and scale.
Principal Responsibilities
(Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)
Commercial Growth & Client Engagement
  • Drive new business development for Cobalt's AI and technology offerings
  • Lead senior client conversations on AI and technology-enabled marketing in healthcare and life sciences
  • Shape and present technology and AI components of pitches and proposals
Leadership
  • Execute against the AI and technology vision set by the EVP, Technology & Intelligence, translating it into product roadmap and platform priorities
  • Mentor and develop teams spanning product, engineering, data science, and applied AI
  • Partner with the Cobalt Solutions Manager to align inbound client work with productized Cobalt offerings
AI Product & Technology Delivery
  • Own the product roadmap for Cobalt's proprietary AI offerings - capability priorities, release planning, and client adoption
  • Bring to market new AI-enabled products and solutions that extend Cobalt's competitive differentiation
  • Provide engineering direction across platform architecture, code quality, security, and scalability
  • Ensure responsible, compliant use of AI in healthcare marketing - data privacy, regulatory considerations, and MLR alignment
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years in technology, AI, or product leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership capacity
  • Healthcare or life sciences experience - direct work in pharma, biotech, medical device, or a healthcare-regulated environment
  • Agency experience - track record building and selling technology or AI solutions in an agency or consulting environment serving external clients
  • Demonstrated ability to sell complex technical solutions to senior client stakeholders (CMO, Chief Digital Officer, CTO)
  • Track record of bringing AI-enabled products or platforms to market
  • Strong understanding of AI, machine learning, LLMs, and applied generative AI, and how these capabilities translate into commercial offerings
  • Strong product management instincts and leadership presence across technical, client, and executive audiences
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with life sciences platforms such as Veeva CRM or IQVIA OCE
  • Hands-on experience with modern data and engineering environments - Python, SQL, APIs, AWS / Azure / GCP
