Cahaba Valley Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Practice Manager to lead operations at our established small animal general practice in Birmingham, Alabama.

This Veterinary Hospital Manager role is ideal for a leader who understands veterinary workflows, financial performance (P&L management), KPI tracking, and team development within a companion animal hospital setting.

As Practice Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations of the clinic while leading with empathy, clarity, and a focus on connection. You'll help us continue building a culture that prioritizes team well-being, excellent care, and community relationships. 

Team Leadership & Culture 
  • Build and retain a high-performing veterinary team 
  • Provide structured coaching, feedback, and performance management 
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and emotional intelligence 
  • Reduce burnout through efficient workflows and staffing models 
  • Partner with the Medical Director and Regional support on hospital strategy and case support 
Veterinary Hospital Operations 
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, compliance, and vendor management 
  • Maintain inventory control and cost management 
  • Ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance 
  • Optimize appointment flow and client experience 
Financial & Business Growth 
  • Manage P&L performance and hospital budgets 
  • Monitor KPIs (revenue, transactions, labor %, inventory %) 
  • Identify growth opportunities in dentistry, surgery, wellness plans, and preventive care 
  • Implement strategic initiatives to increase client retention and new client acquisition 
  • Partner with business and operational support teams at Innovetive Petcare 
Client & Community Engagement 
  • Support elevated client communication standards 
  • Resolve escalated concerns with professionalism and empathy 
  • Represent the hospital within the Chattanooga community 
Required:
  • 3-5+ years of leadership experience in a veterinary hospital, specialty/ER, or healthcare environment
  • Experience managing veterinary support staff
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medicine workflows
  • Budget and financial management experience
  • Familiarity with PIMS systems (Cornerstone, Avimark, ezyVet, etc.)
Preferred:
  • CVPM certification (Certified Veterinary Practice Manager)
  • Multi-doctor veterinary practice experience
  • Demonstrated success improving hospital performance metrics
Salary: $55,000-$65,000 annually (commensurate with experience) +
